No doubt giving the wrong post code was sensible thing to do, as some guy keeps messaging me asking for more details, at 206,000k not sure cats would be any good, mot expired, lot of tin worm, have been tempted by offer of mot certificate as still fully insured, and carry out works in stages but I think Im being sentimental rather than realistic.
and my eyes are steering towards Insignia estate Sri Vx Line nav. Shame about sump engine killing oil pick up seal though.

Not that I've could ever afford £30k back in the day for 3.2 Elite but thats what Ive been offered for scrap, I better figure out a way to get the Irmscher steering wheel off and orginal back on

How bad is the tin worm and whereabouts is it

Beyond Lano Gaurd. Where do I start. what I can actually see. Spare tyre well 2in of pure rot the alongside nsr chassis leg, most like only the metal that makes up tyre well. Sill covers are off, Os sill very salvageable, Os rear arch seen better days but still fully intact apart from 1 Small hole. Ns. bad especially rear section where it meets lower inner arch or what's left of it, you'd have pretty good at metal fabrication as well being handy with a welder. Serek exposed other areas on the smaller box chassis legs running the length of car both sides. Dont him blame for not wanting the job. The motor would need to go up on a ramp and a thorough investigation with a Wera chisel driver and light carried out. Did I mention M.O.t expired. And that would be stage 1

Got the train up to Mr Sereks yesterday drove her back home complete its new found friend, Tin Worm, did not authorise the welding works in the end. Really enjoyed the drive back, even stopped off for a crap donalds but couldn't shake that feeling of its the end of the road for this old girl. I dont have any plans except temporary storage facility until tax runs out then most likely breakers  :'(

 That would probably the best option for this barge, but how may you ask, a nice bloke has approached me and said he can get me an mot for a fee that apparently will be put on the system. not so sure about that and besides working as commercial heating engineer covering all the HM courts throughout the land keeping all our finest judges and barristers toasty warm in the courts is one thing ending up in front of them is entirely another

Time to call it day, shortest ownership of any car in my life time, but a least got to experience as it was then Vauxhalls flagship Elite and to be honest  Ive enjoyed every mile in this 200k+ motor, but alas the cracking drive was no match for the dreaded  tin worm. Having received a call from Serek advising its not worth it. Reluctantly Ive agreed, my heart says one thing but the the head says,Im standing on the edge of a money pit. Problem I have now is do I leave with Serek to get rid, or risk driving her home. MOT expired on the 28th

Hi guys, Mot looming at end off month on the old 3.2 Elite barge. I've booked it in for Mot next Saturday locally. There is no way its gonna pass, it needs welding, this is to find out what does need doing. I've removed the rear sill end caps exposing the tin worm that I can see. What is the best method to remove the Sill Covers, I take it those plastic securing fittings are a one time affair, do i have to drill them out, pop them or break them 
I dont want to be faffing around ordering online standard replacement rear springs to lift the the motor off its arse as its on the original now defunct rear suspension. Could someone recommend a motor factor where can buy over the counter

Thanks for that Dave, I will replace the module and drive motor as I have a new one, came with the car and I'm assuming once I remove the complete unit, that I would be able to turn the female side of the worm drive gear to prove the mechanical part gubbins of the sunroof is not seized. Or hoping that's the case...
