General Car Chat / Irmscher centre caps
« on: 21 April 2020, 07:07:52 »
So my centre caps are a bit of a mess, and you cannot get the same ones, with the I logo in the middle, I bought the last one available on e-bay. Irmscer have the centre caps but have irmscher on them rather than the i, but wait for it, they want £30 for them and then £15 postage. So I started to remove the shiny coating off one of the existing caps and have given them a fine sand (with the wifes, 240/240 nail file), and they have actually come up Ok giving a brushed steel look. Realised I have a dremel in the shed somewhere, dig that out today and finish the caps off.

General Car Chat / POWDER COATING SPORT STAR RIMS
« on: 21 April 2020, 06:57:09 »
So went up to MadHouse tyres yesterday assuming was going to leave the car with them for 2 days to have the rims powder coated, told me they could not do them because of the fancy screws and when they take them off they sometimes break etc., etc., wait to see the boss when he comes in tomorrow. I advised him they screws were steel and if was such a big issue just powder coat over them, anyway will call them this morning to check what they say. As far as I am concerned they can powder coat over without taking them out if such a big deal.  was going to have a go taking them out myself, but there are a total of 60, 15 per rim, and if one broke off then would be fubarred, so in discussion with my mate in Dundee we both agreed would be best to just leave them in a coat over. I welcome comments on the executive decision that has been made.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / ABS - TC & SPEEDO
« on: 03 January 2020, 09:56:59 »
Saw an earlier post on this, have the same problem intermittent on and off, loss speedo, AB/TC and spanner light comes on, sometimes comes back on again, start up and sometimes fine, then other times start up and lights stay on. Having read through the previous threads, possibly ECU but not easy to come by, any ideas where can source sensors if required before considering ABS ECU.

Cheers

General Car Chat / INSURANCE WRITE OFF
« on: 24 February 2019, 08:57:28 »
Great chaps those insurance companies, well a couple of weeks agos whilst at the lights outside of asda old kent road, asda delivery driver decided to reverse into me, slightly creasing my front bumper and damaging the paintwork, despite the van having reversing sensors and me beeping my horn, I couldn't reverse back as there was a car behind me, was not happy reported to insurance and they advised that even the other sides insurers, would view as a write off, cost of repairs £400, I have not since been in contact with the insurers, so my car is really valued if I am lucky about £99, despite having to declare all the extras on the car irmscher, bodykit, suspension etc.. As a write off when not even my fault, very pissed off, would be lucky to get anything back and even if I took the car back, then I would have to re-mot the car. My insurance will be up soonish so there will be an argument when they are charging me over £500 a year, good old LV!!!!

General Car Chat / ULEZ 2021 - The end for my Omega
« on: 24 February 2019, 08:51:42 »
Yes due to that idiot and his number crunching cronies, looks like I will have no option but to get rid of the omega, that I have cherished since 2003, I am not a happy bunny at all, my car will incur the daily charge, just because I live in the extended ULE zone, Thanks lot Mr Mayor!!!

Omega General Help / Smell of Petrol in cabin
« on: 24 February 2019, 08:43:08 »
Just started yesterday afternoon after driving back from Dartford, initially thought it was because had the windows open and in a lot of traffic, but driving later that day was quite strong, have found a few earlier posts on this, so wil check the breathers, fuel pipes into plenum, if none of that will have to pop it into the garage tomorrow as cannot get underneath the car, no jack and sits to low due to irmy suspension, if none of the latter assume may be fuel filter or issue with fuel pipes. Will keep you all posted!!!

General Car Chat / London T - Charge
« on: 22 October 2017, 09:11:53 »
Yes my omega should I venture into the CC area will now be hit with an additional £10 on top of the £11 CC charge, aimed at dirty cars, well granted does need a clean but Mr Khan I increasingly dislike >:(, Fortunately, I rarely travel into the CC area and when I do it is work related, so the company will pay :y So in a nice way up yours Mr Khan, as that means it comes out of public funds ::)

General Car Chat / Car Insurance Renewal
« on: 30 April 2017, 06:25:37 »
Yes this old chestnut again, that time of year when renewal notice comes through ::), came through yesterday and low and it has went up from last year by over £100, to £699, this includes a couple of optional extras, legal, hire car, accident cover £64.60. Changed to LV two years ago when the quoted £525, lowest ever had the insurance at, normally been paying anything between £700/£800 over the years but keep shopping around as usual like I did yesterday, could not get any lower than LV and had some ridiculously stupid quotes in excess of 2k to 3k, AVIVA was the only one that could match the LV quote, suppose I could knock off the optional extras and get it down to £635 ::). Oh and this is not registered as your standard omega as I have to include the extras; lowered suspension, full body kit, SS exhaust, interior changes etc.. So looks like I will just be staying with LV.
