Autogearbox Error

Bearing in mind that my Omega has a non standard engine and gearbox installed the TID throws up "Auto Gearbox" error after a few seconds. Now when I did the transplant I couldn't be bothered to remove the original gearbox ECU. I would like to get rid of this error if possible so I have two options.

1) Replace the current TID with one from  a manual Omega

2) Mimick the signal from the gearbox ECU to convince the TID that all is well with the gearbox.

So before I give in and swap the TID for a manual jobbie would anyone be able to tell me what the signal looks like from the gearbox ECU to the TID to indicate status? E.g. is it 12v for good and 0v for fault?

Some thoughts!

Did any Carlton ever run that combination of engine and transmission?

What protocol does the engine management and gearbox use to communicate?

Are you flashing out codes via the ALDL or does it work through the standard Diag socket under the dash?

Hmm, I think maybe your expectations of this setup are rather higher than mine were! ;D

The gearbox is purely mechanical, the change up and down points controlled purely by the position of the kick down cable. The engine also is completely mechanical having no electronic management at all. Obviously the upshot of that is there aren't any signals or data eminating from either the engine or gearbox.

I fofgot to say, I don't think they ever made Carltons with this setup but the most definitely made Monzas and Senny A, but the were never sold in the UK.

I've got some black electricians tape that you could use to block out the MID/TID  :y ;D

EDIT Actually, was the car Auto originally? If so I think you can tell the display that it's a manual car with TechII (or I think there is a wire link you can cut somewhere) and then it won't throw up the error!

Well apart from this message it works ok, ignoring the F when looking at consumption etc, but I have a cunning plan for that, so I would like to keep it in place as much as possible.

Possible to turn off this message by reprogramming MID via Tech2 (in effect, it ignores the gearbox then).

Similar possible via wiring - I think you ground a wire, but can't remember which/how.

That'll do nicely, thanks!
It looks like pin 21 on the display, the grey wire that you're referring to. I'll give it a try before I resort to doing it properly with the Tech 2.

why dont  you just take take the bulb out the back of the TID...the one that illuminates the Autobox failuer? ? ? ? ?

Not specific bulbs for those 2 computer lines...
