Got a few probs, traff master, waters, power steer
« on: 03 November 2007, 11:18:06 »

hi,

three things hopefully all should be quite easy to fix.

(1) on the right side of the dashboard I got a button that says TM, when I press it a woman voice comes on saying Traffic Master is expired call this number 0990 blah blah, quoting account blah blah, does anyone know what Traffic Master is, I have sat nav and that is working perfectly.

(2) I put 1 litre of water in the water jets (because the warning was coming on) all was fine, bit yesterday the warning was on again, so today I put 3 litres in. but now nothing is working either the windscreen or the headlight jets, The noise is still being made though (it was cold last night but not cold enough to freeze I wouldnt of thought)

(3) Is there a power steering fluid in the car, it is not listed in the manual, I have found brake fluid and oil and coolant

Thank you so much for any help you can give.

1) Traffic Master - Its a system for alerting you to traffic jams and accidents. I found it useless some members here like it, its a personal choice, for an yearly payment you get info on problems around you.

2) The system takes 6 Litres of water, if you have washer jets this can be used VERY quickly. 6L is not enough really. The gauze filter could be blocked.

3) Power steering fluid is the large black bottle on the passenger side towards the rear of the engine bay.

WOW thanks for the fast reply

(1) Think I will just use the Sat nav then.

(2) Where abouts is the Gauze filter please?

(3) for the power steering is that the one that says somthing like use at a setting temperature of 20oC?

Gause filter is in the washer bottle tank, its located between the bumper and tank.

If you car is 1994-1999 (pre facelift) then you need to remove the grill

If its post 1999 (facelift) then no need to.

Put your hands behind the bumper where the number plate is, you will see 2 pipes going into a small motor, pull it towards the bumper then up.

The gauze sits at the bottom.

Think there is a guide on it someware here...

water on the floor, inside the cabin or outside?

Water inside the cabin passenger side is usually related to the scuttle drain being blocked.

Outside does suggests a blockage in the gauze.

they only work when headlights are on.
I will try it now, thanks for the advice.
YEP they work.
All I got to do now is adjust the main windscreen ones, a needle should sort them as they are only reaching the bottom of the screen and not the top.
I just noticed my drivers side wiper is smaller that the passenger side, is this normal?

Thanks for all your help, getting there now.
In my manual it hasnt got my engine number (i think)
The nubmers given are
z 22 xe
y 22 dth
y 26 se
y 32 se

yet i have a 3.0 v6 24v?

is there somewhere on the car I can find out if it is one of these engines?

I am guessing the 22,26,32 actually are 2.2 2.6 and 3.2  engines, or have I got that wrong?

You are correct.

Using TIS by any chance, as that doesn't carry wiring diagrams for 2.0/2.5/3.0?
