Omega General Help / Air Intake/Plenum Length
« on: 05 October 2013, 20:25:55 »
Did all V6 engine sizes (2.5, 3.0 & 3.2) across the FL range have the longer plenum?

Was it just the PFL & MFL that had the shorter length plenums?

Thanks  :y

Omega General Help / 3.2 into a 3.0 Saloon....
« on: 30 September 2013, 01:26:45 »
Is it worth while?

Chap at my work - now I've got to know him is pretty genuine and an honest Omega fan, he is wanting to upgrade from the 3.0 to the 3.2 but i honestly couldn't advise him about it or even if its worth while as i don't know myself  :-\

His car is the sister to the ex-TVP saloon shown below....

W948 FWL did indeed used to belong to TVP. When in service, there were no mechanical / engine alterations made to it.

Its sister vehicle, W944 FWL is below...

Omega General Help / Cam Cover Gaskets
« on: 18 September 2013, 23:57:44 »
Hi,

Do the Vx cam cover gaskets come in a kit?  I did mine quite a few years ago now and I can't recall - Mine are still holding strong!

My mate has a 'S reg' PFL Omega and its started to misfire, I explained about the rain water issue getting into the plug nearest the bulkhead on the N/S when he mentioned about it also being filled with engine oil!!

Time to get the spanners out  :y

Hi,

After much research and the usual positive/negative feedback about them i've decided to take the plunge and get one fabricated by a friend of mine, only downside was i had to get 2 made to make it worth his while!

Theres is a possibility that i can get further airboxes made but it would have to be 2 or more or produced in pairs because of the costs involved, manhours, laser cutting, materials etc...

So here's the photos of them being made...

Using these measurements of one of the actual Resonator boxes that was produced by Mantzel, only difference is that i had the side smaller pipe deleted as the FL Omega doesn't have this fitted

Produced these beauties

And this is how it should look once fitted

The box deletes the need for all this

And as quoted by Mantzel themselves....

Power Resonator Kit 1

Mantzel Power Resonator

Mantzel's contribution to the improvement of the Omega B V6 engine. A very easy-to-slung component that a control valve replaces the original intake. Is achieved when the filter cash according to the guidelines is modified with a power increase of up to 14 hp and an increase in torque of 20 Nm. The engine is better on gas and is much more agile. At the 3.0-liter V6, it is necessary from the Model 98 to replace the air manifold and the throttle body against the model to 98th

The Powerresonator does not fit with the front-wheel drive V6 engines..

My finished boxes will both be finished in powder coat - Satin black and will come with the necessary silicone hose parts and jubilee clips.

£200 inc P&P to anywhere in the UK - I can post to the EU but will incur higher P&P costs.

Omega General Help / No Boost on my 2.2DTi
« on: 06 September 2013, 11:53:59 »
Yes, yes I know it's been covered a million times before!

I've recently bought Twiglets old Black DTi Estate off of him which came with a box of replacement vacuum solenoid parts, I've replaced the one by the N/S suspension turret and the two down on the O/S by the rad.

Now my actual question is, is there a specific solenoid that causes the actual problem of causing no boost? I have one solenoid left and a medium sized thing with a gear wheel on it? Where would that go?

I've also been replacing the vacuum tubing as I've gone along just in case the rubber joiners are split somewhere.

I've recently won some hens teeth Irmscher springs for the estate on German eBay but I'm concerned about paying the seller.

I've spoke to him & eBay about it and eBays reply was that there is no proper payment process like we have in the uk - PayPal, although its available they don't have to use it for transactions like we do here. The seller has asked me to put the funds in his account which he has supplied details for but for some reason I'm holding off :-/

I really want these springs as their bloody rare but I'm worried I'll lose my money and the springs as there is no come back other than me leaving bad feedback about him and filing a claim against him thru eBay....

What to do...?!

Here's eBays reply to my issue:

"Hello Paul,

Thank you for writing to eBay with regard to paying for the Omega B Caravan.

I'll surely assist you resolving this. I can see that your purchased item is listed on German site. Seller's on Germany are not required to accept PayPal payments. With this, you and your seller is obliged to complete the payment using the payment method listed on their listing. I can see on their listing that they are accepting bank transfer. You can use this payment method to send your payment. If in the event that the item you have purchased doesn't arrived or not as described, you have the option to file a claim on the Resolution Centre.

If you're not comfortable paying using bank transfer or other payment methods listed on their listing, you can discuss this to your seller and ask them for cancel transaction.

I trust that this information has been useful to you. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us again.

Kind regards,

Karen Barry

Do we have any German friends on here that could help me or has anyone had this issue and I'm worrying about nothing...?

Omega General Help / Rear Brake Overhaul.
« on: 29 August 2013, 17:51:43 »
Evening all,

The time has come to finally overhaul the rear brakes as the handbrake when raised is nigh on touching the roof lining!

I'm curious what parts I'd need apart from the obvious handbrake cable/s, shoes... Are there any others bits I'd need?

Would anyone happen to have a parts list with part No's?

« on: 29 July 2013, 02:04:53 »
Helped Benn look over the car and confirm that it was a good purchase on this nice Elite Estate during the week...

Anyone know any history or even owned the car in the past?

Needs some headlamp washer jet thingies but otherwise pretty much rust free and everything does what it should do  :y

Here's the eBay Ad if anyone fancies to have a read....

General Car Chat / Another Possible TVP Car?
« on: 14 June 2013, 11:09:58 »
Fella I work with claims to have an ex-TVP car, it's a green saloon and was apparently a training vehicle. I spoke to him for quite a while about it and I felt I was getting the usual 'pub talk' lol... He said it had a 'Lotus Carlton chip' in it and he'd had it at 155+ more than a few times!!

Registration is W948 FWL

Is he right or did I experience 25min of clap-trap?

9,5 Inches

Omega General Help / Police Car Owners...
« on: 08 April 2013, 11:27:10 »
Hi,

I'm after some part numbers if possible, the Police car roof lining has 2 plastic roof lining inspection covers - One is sunroof sized the other smaller and their held in with small plastic pins/dowels that push through the panel and the head of the pin holds the panel in place.  Its the part number for these plastic pins i need....

Cheers  :y
