General Discussion Area / Wood burning stoves
« on: 09 October 2014, 02:00:14 »
Hi all.

Just wondering whether anyone on the oof has installed a woodburning stove or similar? I would like one but don't know anything about them or the installation/running costs. I know they are expensive to buy and I guess that the flue would be really expensive to install.

I have a chimney where I live and it's an old house and some of the neighbours have solid fuel heating. I removed an old gas fire some months ago and what is left is an old solid fuel fire back.

Any advice would be much appreciated. :y

Hi All.

I'm looking for another Omega. I'll consider any as long as it runs as I'm on a low budget as usual.

Thanks very much. :y

General Car Chat / Citroen C5

Hi all.

I got some rent money back and was thinking about getting a second, more economical car for a while.

Has anyone got any experience of the Citroen C5 diesel? They seem quite cheap to buy.

Thanks. :y

Car drives really well. Only selling due to financial problems. I'm being forced to get a smaller car for a while until things improve.

I am willing to deliver the car if the buyer pays for the costs involved.

£900

Thanks.

General Discussion Area / DIY Question
« on: 12 May 2014, 11:22:25 »
 Hi all.

I've bought a new composite kitchen sink and a monobloc tap. I wanted to have a go installing it myself, the problem is that the sink doesn't have a hole for the tap.

I've have a drill bit set but non of the drill bits are any good for this job due to being the wrong size and type.

Does anyone know what I should do?

I don't want to ruin the sink.

Thanks very much. :y

General Discussion Area / Poor Workmanship
« on: 28 April 2014, 19:10:00 »
I recently moved into a council property in Looe, Cornwall  Unfortunately, about one third of the kitchen tiles were missing. I reported this to the repairs section.

The workman who was sent to do the repair informed my housemate that he could find a good match for the missing tiles. I think this poor man must be colour blind.

This is the result. :o :o :o :o :o

Hi all.

I'm running Windows XP Pro and would like to upgrade to Windows 7.

What's the best way to do this? I'm on a very tight budget. Is this new software expensive?

Can I upgrade XP or do I need to do a fresh install?

Thanks very much.

General Discussion Area / How to disconnect a gas fire
« on: 20 April 2014, 15:19:30 »
Dear Oofers.

Would it possible to disconnect a gas fire myself or do I need a registered gas fitter?

People online say it's easy but I don't know how to do it.

What advice can you give me?

Here are some pics.

Thanks very much. :y

Me - 'Yes I am.'

Moved to Looe, Cornwall a couple of weeks ago and it has been hell.

I only got the Internet connected today after 3 attempts by Openreach to connect.

The house can only be described as a dirty hole. It's minging. :o :o :o

Everything needs doing - floors, ceilings, walls, doors, everything.

Saving grace it that Looe is beautiful. :y

Thanks to you all for the advice about moving here. :y

« on: 01 April 2014, 19:17:39 »
My removal company were total muppets and turned up in a Luton van. For a 3 bedroom house move. Idiots. :o

Some of my things had to be left in Warlingham. :'(

Does anyone know of a good courier service?

I could drive back but I'm not sure which route to take. ;D

Thanks a lot. :y
