I think that these days that would be a cheap standard MK2 Cortina, let alone a Lotus Cortina?  :-\

If so, that is insane.

The MK2 Cortina was literally thrown together by people who were apathetic and couldn't give a flying f*uck.

As  for quality control and rust proofing forget it.....after 3 years there would be more Isopon and old newspaper  than metal. ;)

I had a 65 Cortina, which, as alluded to above, was a total rust bucket, yet after 2 year’s ownership, and x cans of filler, it is the only car I ever sold at a profit!!!, Go figure.
