A question about standard window tints
« on: 29 October 2011, 14:53:04 »

I was wondering what percentage the windows are tinted from the factory as I want to tint all the windows slightly darker without breaking the law. Cheers.

I have the 2001 CD Spec Saloon model.

Cheers

Front ones are tinted to the max legally. Do what you want with the rears

I got "dark tint" from my local dealer in Bromsgrove. Really helpful as I didn't know which to pick. They gave me samples to take away and try :o

I picked the dark as from the outside it was very hard to see in, yet on the inside looking out, it hardly made a difference, including night time. I did the rear doors and the side windows of the boot on my estate, looks really good IMO  :y

But as pointed out. the front on the max, but do as you please from the B pillar back.

as said from the B post back as you wish on the front best to leave std. so as not to draw unwanted attenion from the law. the fronts have to let 70% light in i do beleave. which as std they do if you put a lite tint on them it may just pass a good window tinting firm should be able to advise you or even have a light meter. a lot of force cars now have access to a meter so if they think your tint is to dark they can check it and get you to remove it there and then if it is illeagle.

Thanks, I think I will see if I can get my local tinting company to have a look. As I think on the Estates Limo tint or dark smoke tint for the rears look fab! But I think the saloons look a bit odd, which is why I was hoping to darken the tint slightly all the way round.

And I dissagree about tints not making a difference at night from the inside as I limo tinted my previous car Ford Galaxy on the rear 5 windows and as a result when I was reversing at night couldn't see a damn thing and when I was reversing my caravan I had to open the rear windows and bootlid to see the caravan go back!

The Omega in the OOF picture at the top left hand corner looks odd to me! But I don't know if that is just the quality of the picture maybe?
