Type of diss pack
« on: 01 April 2014, 12:09:09 »

Hi all...posted here as not what I class as Electrical.

Can anyone tell me whether certain diss packs are allocated to certain vehicles.
I know there are oval and rectangular plug versions, but are those versions allocated willy nilly, or does, say, a 2.5ltr from a particular year, have an oval plug, and the same car the following year have the rectangular one. Or by Chassis number etc.
Or is it a case that the old one has to come off first
My 'W' (2000) 2.5ltr Elite Estate has still got a slight misfire under load, not all the time. Some days it runs like a dream, then out of the blue, when you go to pull away, just for a minute at the most, it misfires. Then when it picks up it will drive perfectly till it decides to have another hissy fit pulling away, which may not be for quite a few pullaways.
Or......could it be a naff plug.
No codes on paperclip test. Cam covers all ok (replaced)

I await with anticipation :y

DIS pack for that age will be the later oval plug type and yes, there pretty well defined based on age and chassis number (a little blurring of the lines on the cross over points).

Check the plug leads and obviosly for oil in the wells.  :y
