Hiya folks - I haven't had my Omega very long and I've never used a forum before either, I'd really appreciate some advice guys...
My MV6 Elite has had led sidelights fitted and one has blown. I'm trying to replace them both back to the original lamps. I'm hoping the ones I've bought are the right ones, but I can't get the existing ones out yey. I can't figure out wether they come out the back of the cluster fitting or do I remove the lens and go in the front?
I would really welcome some help...

Havent changed one for a while,but I seem to remember they should just pull out from the rear of the light unit. :y
Definitely not from the front. ;)

yup quite correct, might be easier first time to take whole headlight out 5min job then you can see what you are doing :y

Must say i take the unit out. 2 top bolts and the one under the unit, you get to that by taking the lower trim off under the light, on the inside of the headlight (grill side) remove the plastic rivit and unclip rubber and the trim swings towards the wing and then pulls out and you can get to the bottom bolt 8m/m iirc the the whole light then comes out.

The lense is firmly glued on, they're a push fit into their own holder which in turn is a push fit into the back of the headlight. Well, I've gotta say it chaps, I'm mightly impressed!!! Not only the speed and warmth of your replies but the usefullness too!
I was secretly hoping that it was going to be even easier to do, I got as far as uncovering the bottom bolt and thought, "bugger that, I'm going in for a cuppa!"
Now with renewed vigour and a cuppa, I'm going to conquer my bulbs - cheers again chaps!

IMO it's easier to leave your headlamps where they are & stick your hand in the back. Driver's side is relatively easy but the passenger side needs the battery moving back a little to get your hand in. I find it easier to turn the lights on to do it, you can see the light from the front when you get some where near. Make sure the bulb doesn't fall out of its socket/holder ........... it's a bugger to get back out of the headlight :(

just changed mine to leds,drivers side is easy but i decided to remove complete unit for passenger side

Are they bright enough? I've seen some late FL cars running bright white sidelights compared to mine on the superbarge which are old skool amber until the mains fire up!

FL = Facelift.. Grill is integrated into the bonnet,interior is quite different,colour coded rub strips on doors etc. rahter than black rubber.

Exactly; removing the lights is just as fiddly as changing the bulbs, and I didn't need to shift the battery to do the N/S one either. Nor do I have small hands. I was intending to fit LEDs, but couldn't get them to work. Ended up using the bulbs in the courtesy light instead.

Just to let you know, the nes bulbs are now in and working just fine!!!
I did in the end opt to remove the lights which made the bulb replacement a doddle, but that last screw fixing under the light, who on earth thought it would be a good idea to hide it there - plonker!!!
This is a minor triumph for me and all the good advice etc is very much appreciated!!!

just to mention, this post has also helped me as I was looking at how best to do it and with needing to restore the headlights (cloudy) i think I'll remove them to make both jobs easier.

I've recently restored the headlights on one of mine. I thought it was best restoring them in situ so they are held firmly as there is always going to be a small degree of pressure on them in the process, whether by hand or with a mini polisher. Off the car, you would have to physically hold them firmly to keep them steady whilst attempting to polish them by whatever means.

I always do mine on the car as well, using one of those £18 3M kits that fit a drill, and taken between 5 and 25m a side, depending how keen you are. Saves all that elbow grease ;D
the 3M kit comes with a load of (slightly thicker than normal) bright green masking tape to protect the paintwork.

That's what I think too. As each lamp only takes a few minutes, by hand, on the car it's not worth the extra hassle of removing them.
