Hi, its a Z20 LET with a VXR Turbocharger, its has a 9.1l intercooler and the ECU has been remapped, all in all although the transplant was done over 3 years ago, (the VXR turbo was upgraded later) the engine has been very reliable, and hasn't presented any problems.

Hi Martin, the car originally was a X20 XEV,  the drive is absolutely fantastic, there isn't any turbo lag and the acceleration is neck snapping. The fuel economy is about the same as the X20 XEV.

So you saved a good 100+ pounds off the weight of the car and bumped up a healthy 50+ hp... man that right there might make the MIG one hell of a nice car to throw around corners etc...

I have seen one with a Toyota Supra 2JZ motor... inline 6 3.0L putting out a solid 500hp at the rear wheels... now talk about a sneak attack...

Hi there, thank you. The installation cost just over £6K, there was a lot of work involved especially the wiring as the Z20 LET engine was Fly By Wire, and the engine mounts had to be fabricated to site the engine. It took almost four months to complete.

so what would it take to get a LET in there? or a ZLET?

I guess with the ZLET there'd be more work involved, what with the emisions stuff.

Luckily, i didn't get too involved with the transplant, this was dealt with a specialist vauxhall tuning company who demonstrated  the expertise to transfer the engine, the wiring was the main issue, they had to marry the Omegas loom to the Astra loom.

At the time the transplant was being done i had my reservations about the outcome, needless to say the drive home from tuning company said it all!

afaik the mounts are a straight swap, you'd need the engine loom at a guess and just plug and play pretty much into the omega body loom but i'm not sure as i'v never done a later engine 2.2/2.0 into an old 2.0/v6 body!

Hi, the Z20 LET engine mounts had to fabricated to allow the Astra front wheel drive to fit the Omegas rear wheel drivetrain. But the wiring was truly a nightmare for the tuning company to transfer, it took them nearly two months to figure everything out.

The original gearbox was used without any problems at all, mechanically the transplant wasn't too complicated, but the electrical wiring consumed the majority of the time.

Just out of curiosity have you had any chance to put the car on a scale and see how the weight has changed, ...

The V6 has an Iron block and probably weights in at around 150kg... or somewhere there

The 4cyl inline must be a much lighter set up,

You lost a bunch of weight on the front end, added 60+hp so I think you have got the best of both worlds... Well worth the 6K you invested in it, and I think its much better set especially if you compare to a big and heavy V8...

You are using the orginal Electrict for the motor. Or you using Data sprut?
