My Omega - Another update...bodywork and detailing
« on: 28 June 2009, 23:37:15 »

Well folks, time for another update!

The first was for some bodywork by Mr Peden which included getting some flaky laquer sorted on one side and getting the bootlid smoothed off....which i was a little unsure about at first but has definitely grown on me!

The second was a good detailing session which took place on saturday past there, and boy was i glad to get it done!!

The Process:
Wash: good old fairy liquid....
Clay: Sonus green clay and last touch as lube
Correction: Porter Cable with a Yellow Sonus Pad and Menzerna PO85RD 3.02, mixed with Menzerna S 34 A on tougher parts such as the spoiler, bumpers, and bump strips.
Refine: Menzerna PO85RD on a White Sonus Pad to refine the paintwork, with AG SRP to finish.
Wax: Dodo Juice Purple Haze.
Glass: AG Glass Polish
Wheels: Poorboys Wheel Sealent
Engine: AG APC and AG ASD

Unfortunately i had no glaze and sealant which are enroute in time for the show on saturday at GTI NI. Poorboys Black Hole glaze and EX-P to bring out the flake nicely!

And a few pictures....yes i went a bit mad on the picture front hahaa!!

Just washed...

Taping....

TRYING (key word there...) to show the paint before hand...

After the correction process...

The interesting working conditions we had....

I'm afraid I didn't understand a word of that but it must have worked as the result is quite stunning. 8-)

A very nice car and a credit to you, to say the least :y :y

zulu - it equates to about 7 hours work, and thats with four people and two polishers going too! more ahead too with the glaze, sealent and reapplication of wax but its worth it in the end!

candyman - i think youll find you parked beside me :P

Probably some of the nicest pictures that I have seen of any Omega.  Beautiful shots, and and a lovely clean car.

....well the hard work paid off miniator - if you're doing it again why not take some photographs during the process.  I'm sure that many on here would be interested to see the various stages involved - I know I would.

Rather akin to a detailing tutorial.

Once again, top marks 8-) 8-) :y

That looks incredible. My Omega is also Nocturno blue like yours and however hard I try it never looks anything vaguely like that. But I suppose I use simple turtlewax polish after washing it...not in the same league. If you don't mind me asking, how much did all that stuff cost?

umm, the polisher was borrowed and it was £200
pads, £8 each
polish, 5x250ml £30
sonus clay, £5
last touch, £17 (3.5litre)
dodo juice, £30
wheel sealent, £15

new glaze and sealent, £15 each....

soon runs into money but my fiancee and friend (who both helped out) have stuff too so we all share what we have you know!

for a simple polish by hand theres only one that i would recommend, Autoglym SRP (Super resin polish) and a decent wax such as a Meguiars!
