Chassis Number Example:
W0L 0000 25 R 1 000043
W0L = World Manufacturer Identifier
0000 = Not Used
25 = Body Style (25= 4 Door Saloon)
R = Production Year (R=94, S=95, T=96, V=97)
1 = Manufacturing Plant (1 = Ruesslesheim)
000043 = Chassis Number

251 = Trim Code
From Model Year 99 to end of Production the chassis numbers changed, example:
W0L 0 V B F35 W 1 000001
W0L = World Manufactuere Identifer
0= Special Vehicle ID ( 0 = No Special)
V = Vehicle Platform (Not for Dealer Use)
B = Vehicle Designation ( Not for Dealer Use)
F35 = Denotes Vehicle Body Style ( F35 = 5 Door Est)
W = Production Year ( W= 98, X= 99, Y=00, 1=01)
1 = Manufacturing Plant (1 = Ruesselsheim)
000001 = Chassis Number

Y=Paint Type ( Y= Solid Paint, Z = Metallic Paint)
567 = Paint Code
XXAI = GM Drive Code Trim
There was also a special plate for GM LPG cars which can be found on the drivers B Pillar if your car came from factory with LPG fitted, Example
SKA 0 V B F35 4 M 000001
SKA = Secondary Manufracture ID (LPG Conversion)
0 = Special Vehicle ID ( 0= Not Special)
V = Vehicle Platform (Not for Dealer Use)
B = Vehicle Designation ( Not for Dealer Use)
F35 = Denotes Vehicle Body Style (F35= 5 door Est)
4 = Production Year ( 4= 2004)
M = Manufacturing Plant ( M= Millbrook)
000001 = Chassis Number
