Hi
Anyone know how to get the car pass, need it for new key? I read a guide using "My Naff Code Reader", which I have but didn't fancy the part about mucking about with the ECU to extract a hex code from the guts of the set up files. Other than that would stealership have this info now?
Thanks
Andrew
If you use the right locksmith, they'll do it without the car pass. It's several years ago but the customer after me didn't have her pass, which added £15 to the cost of a new remote and programming.
Some cars aren't easy to get the security PIN out of electronically, which would add up to a more significant cost than £15, as you have to remove the ECU, disassemble it, remove the varnish they apply, attach a eeprom reader, dump the contents, and decode it.
Some are easy to electronically read out.
As far as I know, the Omega's system does need the eeprom read and decoded.
There are key clone options, but they are a bit wank, as its essentially a clone of the existing key, which means the RF fob falls out of sync on one of the keys pretty quickly, unless you are strict enough to always alternate the keys. Resyncing a key will cause the other key to stop working.
