My current deal with EON is about to expire so I'm casting about for a new deal, but it turns out that the best deal is the new tariff offered by EON. 

Current Deal:

Gas 2.792p pKwh  Standing Charge 9.450p per day.  Elec. 16.976p pKwh  Standing Charge 9.450p per day.

New Deal:

Gas 3.99p pKwh   Standing Charge 19.27p per day.   Elec. 20.74p pKwh    Standing Charge 18.81p per day.

Looks like I'll have to stick another jumper on this winter.

This has been coming since the government said they were lifting the cap on prices. I fixed with OctopusEnergy for two years a couple of months ago. It wasn't cheap, but it was cheaper than waiting until now...........which, apparently, some people have done

Price cap doesn't go up until 1st October. 

Although it looks as though they've already priced that in.

I switched some time ago to Bulb.

I don't know about being absolutely the cheapest, but very straight forward. No tarrifs, deals, contracts, plans, and other ways of creating smoke and mirrors. Just one. I just know that my bills halved when I switched from SSE. Very happy.

PS. They have told me that a price increase is in the pipeline, but I won't lose sleep over it.
