...and Avro energy have just gone pop. I think that whoever picks up the pieces is bound by my existing deal, so no problems for a year ::). If not, I guess I'll just have to freeze this winter  :D
No, they are not bound to your existing deal. Plus you can't switch until your newly appointed provider has set you up, which will be after the price cap increases.

Waiting to see what my new British Gas "competitive" tarrif will be :(, but they have confirmed no exit fees should I wish to move.

Suppose I'd best get home then and take a photo of the meters. Then turn all the heating and electrical stuff on to use as much leccie and gas as possible before the price goes up  :D

No, not bound by your existing deal, but any credit you have will be honoured.
I have a two year fix with OctopusEnergy, 18 months to run.

Credit? I don't allow companies or the tax man to owe me credit. If I understood the screen last time I logged on I owed them £1000+. Dunno how - it's them that set the direct debit which was £90 p/m, but went up to £128 p/m when I renewed last month.

I think the regulator is going to have to change the rules for those suppliers that survive this. In the same way that banks are supposed to keep a reserve (10% of deposits IIRC), the surviving energy companies are going to have to hedge/forward buy a percentage of their customers fixed tariff contracts.

In the mean time I'll take a leaf out of Tom Daley's book and start knitting a wooly pully for winter.

I always build up a credit during the summer months, about £350 now I think, because my bills in the winter months are around £220 a month.
I'm always toasty warm, though.  ::)

Guess which company I was in process of switching to?  ::)

They took my first DD payment of £94 on Monday as well and although credit balances are supposedly protected, I'm not technically a customer yet.  :-\

Meanwhile, EonNext (my current supplier) are still offering the same 12 month deal that seemed expensive 3 weeks ago.  Might be wise just to sign up to that.  :-\  ::)

Why? What does it matter? You'll pay what you pay and you probably won't find cheaper elsewhere. If you were worried about fuel prices you wouldn't be hooning around in a 2.8T.

Is it possible to hoon around in a Signum?  :-\                                                                            ;D

Not sure how you'd manage that with shopping wheel drive and that much power. ;D

Checked our account with Scottish power pay £115 per month for gas & electric, couple of hundred quid in credit locked in till September 2022 so for now no increase in prices, unless they go tits up , still things could always be worse so certainly won't be worrying about it..👌
