yes .get well soon.
and hopefully the pattern alternator now fitted will work but as mentioned above dealers have no idea about our cars anymore .they will work on them yes but for a daft price to put you off.
worth popping a new regulator on the old one to keep as a spare in future thou.

Thanks James and Jonneydog :-* :-*

I am pleased to say that Caffyns successfully fitted the AS alternator, bought by me from Autodoc for £107, all in,, for a fitting only charge of £200.
The way things have been for me, in am completely happy with this result, that the Caffyns service Manger helped me with, as  this issue I have put to bed at last.  ;)

James, thanks for your offer on this one and I will certainly remember it for any future difficulty :-*
I must now accept that working on cars, or anything that is a serious job just cannot happen.  Bloody "old" age! >:(

I am only 70 ::) ;D

As for the car; stuff that at the moment!  Once I have the specialist treatment from the surgeons of St Thomas Hospital, London, I will be lucky to  be able to polish my coffee table! ::) ;D

The car is in the garage for at least 8 weeks now, in addition to the time spent outside my daughter's house since Caffyns delivered it back there ;)

Disconnect the battery. Otherwise you'll be buying another one.

Just make sure that the key actually unlocks the driver's door and/or leave the bonnet popped with a piece of wood or similar to prevent it being closed accidentally.

Always do when parked on the flat, such as In the garage :y

Well, eventually came out of St Thomas Hospital London, with 7 stents pushed up into the arteries around the heart.  So, apart from taking it easy, that is me fixed! :y :y

As for the Omega, which I can now legally drive again after the week's medical restriction, after reconnecting the battery she started first time after 7 weeks standstill.  The new alternator is working fine.

Big relief.  Have now booked her in for the exhaust to be redone by the specialist garage outfit who should have done a far better professional job, which my Vx dealer faulted in a lovely health check video!! :o :o
