Iran could prove interesting. Isolation is so old fashioned, it's up to god, whichever flavour you believe in, whether you live or die.....say the religious fanatics who rule the country.

The Spanish flu pandemic in 1918 killed 30-50 million.

So far the CV has killed an elderly couple and their pet whippet, Eric. :)

That was over a couple of years, January 1918 - December 1920.  They didn't have quick and easy travel like we do today, and look how that spread around the globe, even to remote Pacific Islands and the Arctic.  ;)

Covid-19 has only been around for a couple of months, so give it time:)

Yes.....I believe the death toll in Italy has now reached 10. ::)

Rather less than have choked to death on a piece of pizza. ::)

A couple of weeks ago we were looking and wondering at pictures of soldiers manning roadblocks in a strange land on the other side of the planet.

Now we're looking at pictures of soldiers manning roadblocks in a neighbouring country less than a 24 hour drive away.

In two weeks time we could be looking at soldiers manning roadblocks in the neighbouring county.

I might get a few tins of spam in!  :)

Instead of self isolation, should we recommend self immolation? That would kill all the germs too.

How about self flagellation?  That might pacify the gods!  :)

An expat forum for France has an interesting thread suggesting ( it isn't clear by who!) to regularly buy extra dry and tinned foods to avoid panic and shelves being empty. The idea being to have plenty in in case of having to self isolate. How long before we are seeing  panic buying like we see at xmas, Easter, etc.?

Perhaps a couple of weeks'  curfew would go some way to reducing the pile of food that SWMBO's taken to storing in my bloody garage. ::)

Tinfoil hat time: Weren't the climate change folks suggesting that all commercial flights be banned along with ICE cars? If everyone is on quarantine, there will be no flights...

Well, now that you mention it, it is a watered down veggie flu...  :D

You have probably caught worse on a plane. Sitting in the front would probably help.

Newsflash...

Italy, north of Pisa, isn't great in the winter, so now is a sensible time to not be there in the first place.

Go in June/July. It will be warmer with no flu :y

Oh, I have definitely come back from work trips with a healthy dose of plane-aids before now, that's for sure! Doesn't help that I always sit at the back (either near the lavs or, if I'm lucky, galley, depending on the plane) so everyone is walking past me.. but that's more manageable than being whacked in the shoulder every time the trolley-dolley goes past ;D

I think I may be coming down with a dose of  Man Flu.

Forget the 2% fatality rate of the 'pissy' Corona virus, it is well known the fatality rate of man flu is close to 100%... :-\
