General Discussion Area / Newent Meet 2013

Every year we have the Newent Meet on the first weekend of September, which members with children are then able to attend as kids go back a few days after.
Next year the first weekend of September really would be Friday 6th -Saturday 7th so assume kids will have started back to school.
So I intend on booking us up for Friday August 30th - Saturday 31st August.
Does that suit most Members that are thinking of attending?
If so I can get us booked up.

General Car Chat / Engine work about to be started on my own car..

As this is an Omega Car Forum I am going to post a step by step account of what I am doing to my own car.
The car:
Is a 2.6 mv6 estate 2001 with 93, 000 miles on it. Has got the problem of its year with the stem seals weeping on start up (so like James Bond's smoke screen almost
)
Not going to give up everything quite yet but will keep posted as I go forward adding pictures too.

How well are Scotlands Olympians doing... I was screaming myself horse last night as Michael Jamison was a fingers length of winning Gold in the 200metres Breaststroke
I am enjoying every second of these Games I get chance too watch. I also swell with Pride to see Team GB try so hard

General Car Chat / Why Anti Freeze is Important??

I am fixing a members car, which had a few signs of a head gasket problem. Water loss (but could not see where from) plus quiet a bit of steam out of the exhaust.. although, the car was not missing....
When I pressurised the coolant system, I could see no leaks at all, until water was passing my feet..... I looked under the car to find water pouring out of the centre boxes of the exhaust... I removed the spark plugs to find water was coming up two plug wells. I removed the Plenum which was full of water, the bagpipes too....Also water was coming past valves and filling Three inlets..
So yet again another V6 having seemingly a Head Gasket problem.....
A number of times now I have been told that "There is no need to swap head gaskets in a pair!" I have heard people have had work done on here, where only one side has being changed.... Have a look at this picture of one sides head gasket... what do you think the other side will be like?? Don't forget the pair have probably never been changed, they also share the same water/anti freeze....
Just too add, the Oil Cooler was rusty as sin and so was the Water Pump impeller
