Omega General Help / V6 Fault code difference
« on: 08 March 2010, 14:10:40 »
Hello, whats the difference between the V6(cable)motronic 2.8.1 and the V6(DBW) ME 3.11 fault codes. I assume the latter is drive by wire(DBW) and seems to be related to Y26SE and Y32SE engines. So which cars/models had which and was one discontinued and replaced by the other and if so why and when.? Am just intrigued to know as currently i dont!
I can see one has 2 or 3 digit codes and one has 4 and am guessing they have different ecu`s

Have a close look at the service history to see if the spark plugs changed box has been ticked in the book and if recently changed. If not, change them, might make no difference whatsoever but it will make you feel better!

I believe, but am happy to stand corrected that your current mot is now invalid due to vosa`s computerisation and your car is now deemed unroadworthy until an mot test is passed and the faults corrected that the car has just failed on.

I would have both coil packs replaced, the car has done over 100k miles, the coil packs appear to have been contaminated with moisture and oil at various times. If they are the originals then maybe time has taken its toll,if they have been replaced at any time then are they genuine.Either way contamination by water or oil in plug wells and that seems to be recent can cause(lets call it strain) to internal circuitry. If that doesnt provide a cure then put the old ones back in and sell the new ones that way keeping the costs of this method of attempted cure down.

Were the rear tyres ever on the front as if so then the rear set up is probably fine, once a tyre begins an uneven wear pattern it almost always will continue to wear in this way right down to the end of the tread. What i am saying is they might have been on the front a long time ago and then put on the back but the uneven wear pattern started at the front would continue even though the rear set up is ok.

Omega General Help / Re: Auxiliary 12v water pump

Was looking closely at it today and its leaking from the electrical connector end,in fact appears to come out of there! Considered taking it apart and will when i have clamped in the replacement. Ordered one earlier from Dave Marshall after contacting him through the car parts section.I will post if i can effect a repair but that end of the pump looks unserviceable to me.

Cheers, after disconnecting the 12v power supply to it i thought maybe i would not get warm air to the cabin as quick,no discernible difference at all.

Thanks for the replies, thew vauxhall dealers in Leeds cant seem to identify it but they think they have the one located around  the radiator.
I got the part no. from it GM 90 566 929 and they dont have any record of that but  list an aux water pump 90 50 9271.(think thats the one by the rad).
Bosch stockists can identify it from its Bosch part no. 0392 020 075 and state it was supplied to dealers only and not available from them.
Reading between the lines i suspect there are none left anywhere perhaps. So secondhand or join the pipes is the way forward.
Anybody got one ?

Omega General Help / Auxiliary 12v water pump
« on: 24 February 2010, 11:44:13 »
Its the one bolted to the inner drivers wing under the header tank and i believe fitted to facelift MV6`s as  winter pack.
Anyway its leaking coolant, connecting pipes are fine its dripping through the pump body somewhere. I have disconnected the 12v feed thinking if its not operational it may leak less. Joiining the two feed and supply pipes and taking the pump out of the water circuit seems like it would eradicate the leak  and would solve the immediate problem.I dont feel happy about joining these two pipes yet in case the pump operation depends on some other valve opening etc. My guess is the pump is non-repairable so i need another methinks.Did a search and somebody posted the part no.,but cannot find it again,it was something like 902???117.Doesnt look too cheap, obviously a good secondhand one might be the order of the day.
Any advice welcomed,regards.

Omega General Help / Re: Central Locking IS Locking me out!

Check your battery is still giving out a decent voltage.Had a nissan terrano that would lock all the doors once you got in,it was all tied in with the immobiliser etc.,would only do it when the battery was nearly flat, which became evident on turning the key to start and just a slow turn over resulted instead of the normal fast turning. When the doors locked i knew it was jump leads time!

Where are you measuring from?
I would not go changing anything until you can isolate exactly where you think that inch is lost.Until then dont go guessing, unless you have nothing else to do and have a supply of free parts.

A month ought to be no problem at all for a healthy battery.
