Not neccessarily,do you have wear on the discs?

My guess, you have wear on the discs and an outer and inner lip is present. The sudden and hard braking has altered where the pads normally sit  and on  the right hand turns the pads are coursing the lip or lips.

Omega General Help / 2002 2.2 SPORT
« on: 20 February 2010, 10:19:43 »
Hello, the 2.2 SPORT models appear to me to be identical to the facelift MV6 models in appearance.
Are they identical on the suspension components.ie shocks and springs?

Omega General Help / Re: Cleaning standard Omega alloy wheels...

Cartec acid free wheel cleaner, used it for years, there is some on ebay so you can have a look and see what it is then search the web. i get it in 5 litres from A+E motor colours in york. Its actually alkaline, wear a mask if you spray it on,its nasty stuff for the lungs though doesnt do any damage to the wheels or lacquer finish,i brush it on,agitate with the brush and rinse off with water using a hose pipe. I use it on plastic wheel trims as well with no harm done,it just eats brake dust, even caked on.

Cold weather and driving over them at 30mph could be enough to snap the last few inches of the spring where it sits.Worth checking anyway as in a lot of cases a broken spring isnt found until the mot visual inspection.

I am not going to say you might as well do the camcover gaskets as a precaution whilst you have it all in bits.

It was of course the car advertised by saranbailey , it would have fetched what its worth, about £1000-1200 if i had a free reign to question the seller.

Omega General Help / Re: Bust the ashtray
« on: 14 February 2010, 13:51:30 »
Fixed! Found one on ebay(just the innards) for £24.99 plus £3.75 p+p and thought bloody hell!
Soldering iron out, plastic welded the silver retaining pin back in place, mechanism still stiff so specs on and found where the plastic arm/thing was from(it controls the lighter socket up and down motion),welded that back in place and it all wanted to work properly then.Tested loads of times before refitting and no problem, refitted and its gliding in and out like a good un.Reckon its probably worth another 5-10 H.P. Job sorted and thanks again for your help.

Many thanks for your replies, removed it this morning by finding the screw(thank you joshwyatt).  The silver  pin at the back that hooks into the retaining mechanism is broken out of its mountings and i have broken  bit of plastic that may well be the little arm that Merlindriver referred to. I have removed the MV6 facia from it and have declared the mechanism FUBAR. The mechanisms changed sometime in 2000 so am seeking another from 2000 onwards, thanks again for your help, regards.
