I have NEVER bought a car afore, my husband always did that. it was Reading services, freezing cold, wet, and I was being rushed.

Hindsight is a beautiful thing Diane, but come on, buying a car in a motorway service area......?

Asking for trouble.

Rent a car for your France trip and lets get your Mig sorted out when you return.

If your French trip is for what I think it is for, the LAST thing you need is car trouble on the way there or back......

You have obviously spanned the forum for some time and learned loads about the marque regarding its weaknesses, and strenghths.  Mean nothing more....

Buying ANY used car has risk associated with it. Lets not forget that our Migs are well outside their manfacturers warranty & the price reflects that ...........

I'm sure that we ALL have reflected on something that we should have done when buying a used car. Another of life's lessons learned the hard way ,,,,,,,

It was, but alloys moved to another car before it was sold, so its on standard Vx alloys.

It was of course the car advertised by saranbailey , it would have fetched what its worth,about £1000-1200 if i had a free reign to question the seller.
