Omega General Help / Re: Back End Jobs...
« on: 02 December 2013, 11:38:14 »
When someone tried my to change the filter on my old 2.5 estate they buggered up the pipes and ended up putting fuel pipe and Jubilee clips over the pipes. I cut the pipe and put a filter between.  It worked but when I looked at putting it right the job of replacing the pipes just wasn't worth taking on.

So I'm guessing a hard drive failure, replaced with a larger drive ?? thus requiring a Raid transformation ??

Odd that you had no pre-failure warning from the drive controller given the problems you reported ...

however, many thanks for all your efforts on our behalf :y :y :y

Well said Nige!!
Thanks TB

General Discussion Area / Re: Category C LGV Training
« on: 30 November 2013, 09:06:11 »
I'm a driver for the local bus company National Express, if you join a large company they will pay for your licence(auto only) and also do the necessary CPC training. This is normally covered by a period of time tied to the company. If you leave before this you sign to say you will repay the company for the training. (I think this is two years with NXWM)

Driving a bus is not as bad a job as some people make out, you do have to be thick skinned to put up with the low lives (joys of working with the public!) but you know what time you start and finish, no bus cleaning or fuelling (if you are with a big company) but you do have early starts (4am) and late finishes(1.30am) and the famous split shifts (maybe a 4 hour break between 1st and 2nd part of duty).

There are jobs with smaller companies but most would not put you through the test and you may end up paying for your CPC training. This would be the same with most coach companies, the one good side of PCV driving is the driver side of the industry is not flooded with Agencies trying to muscle in.

Omega General Help / Re: Petrol flap security - petrol theft
« on: 28 November 2013, 19:07:23 »
Hi Guys,

I have an Omega Estate GLS 02. Someone has tried to steal fuel from the car. On first occasion 2 weeks ago flap was open & cap on the ground, not sure if fuel was taken or not. After that I always checked flap was secured & parked car elsewhere. This morning flap was open again, I know it was secured. So methinks it can be accessed with screwdriver, is that possible as there were no scratch marks? Tank was on red anyway. Would this model have anti-syphoning? If not can I get a locking cap to fit?
Would appreciate advice, thanks

I would think Halfords may have one, and if you ask nicely they can fit and demonstrate it for you. :y

At a price ;D ;D

General Discussion Area / Re: Rural Garages
« on: 27 November 2013, 18:21:37 »
There are a few independent garages left in Birmingham, alas they can not compete on prices of fuel. Obviously the bigger operators can bulk buy and get a far lower net price per litre.
Another thing that usually finishes off the smaller garages is when the tanks become unusable due to age and they cost a small fortune to replace.

One side of the head should be held by a small screw and a spring, this is the one you adjust the head with.
You can not hurt anything by adjusting it but it may make a huge difference to the playback!

On our system, the radiator by the front door is the open one, this is normally the coldest part of the house and is the radiator  furthest from the boiler (but I don't think that matters).
