Coolant air lock
« on: 01 March 2010, 16:42:15 »

Over the course of last week I noticed that the car was running hot.  Doing anything more then 65 for a few hours (I did a lot of long journeys) and the temp went to 97.5-100 on the guage (Pre-FL)  This wasn't an issue as I was trailoring most of the time so no need to go quick.

After getting some replacement hoses for peice of mind (refering back to the coolant hose blowout early Jan due to the oil sitting so long int he pipes) decided to flush to whole system (again!) this time with hot water.  I flushed, reverse flushed, flushed with car running, etc.  Refilled with some more detergent and filled up with water ready to replace this evening.  To my dismay there was next to nothing coming out, only a small bit of murky water from the radiator while reverse flushing.

On the drive this morning no matter how hard I drive the car it stayed in the normal 94-96 range the whole way, even during a long stint at 90-95.

Would that be the likely effect of an airlock?  Or something more sinister?
