Driving Test Cars
« on: 11 February 2007, 13:15:21 »

Just had a scary thought that i have been driving for over twenty years now :-/ and was just thinking about my test. Had my lessons in a Metro and took my test in my Dads 1850 Dolomite. What did you do yours in?

Must have been about 30years ago, I was in the Glasgow OTC. They put me through my driving training and test, in an Army Landrover ;D. as the gearbox was non-syncro, you had to double de-clutch up and down the box ;D  Great fun driving around Glasgow in a Landrover with 1/2" thick steel bumpers and L plates ;D

I took my test in 1985 in a shiny new Nissan Micra!  :-[

Actually not a bad little car, and considerably better than the Belmont!!  ;)

And James.... shut up you young pup!  ;D

Passed my test in '94 in a 6yr old Micra.

Not an ideal car for someone of my size (6ft 7); and with my size 15 shoes on i couldn't actually be selective about which pedal i was using. I ended up taking all my lessons and my driving test in just socks! (Well not just socks, i was fully dressed apart from no shoes!)

Took lessons and passed my test in 1982 in a Datsun 140j ,I think that's the right model.
those were the days, you could go out on a Sunday morning and there was virtually no traffic.
