General Car Chat / Re: Costs of running a car

Only had one Renault, a 20TS auto. It was a comfortable car and was plenty fast enough. Unfortunately, the camshaft was made of chocolate (French steel) and once the cam lobes had worn down to a point where there was no adjustment left, I..............sold it to my mate 😂😂

Virgin spent months cabling the whole district around here, did a pretty decent job of making good the pavements. It must have been an investment of £millions, and I don't think many residents actually changed to Virgin.

I've seen them advertise deals with refurbished kit, so keep your eye out.  :y

It looks like the cost is currently £225 ( £450 before) for the dish, and then £85 a month. Not cheap.

Elon is worth £280 billion so he could afford to make it less expensive.

What sort of speeds do you get for that?  ???

That's a similar price to high speed fibre I think?  If you have fibre that is...  ::)
High speed fibre is well cheaper than £85. But, if you live on a rambling country estate, Openreach aren't about to use a whole drum of cable to get to you.

Elon Musk could do with a couple of bob, so you will be keeping him from the food bank.

Even worse on the actual bridge.

Big difference between weathered and green slime. Out patios are York stone and now look like the year they were laid.
Bloody southerners, coming up here, pinching our stone.
Bloody Northerners coming down here and nicking our women... :P
Of course, how could they resist?  ;D

I read earlier that there were two pilots on board. Seems to have been some kind of equipment failure, it will all come out in the wash.

General Car Chat / Re: Insurance renewal .
« on: 25 March 2024, 15:01:43 »
There are certain insurance companies that are refusing to insure anyone over 70 now. Or quoting such a ridiculously high price that they know won't be accepted.

Seeing Mick's post prompted me to ring LV. I managed to get £60 off my renewal and £50 off the wife's. £110 for a ten minute call is ok, but both policies together still come in at around £1000  :(

Pressure washing the paths and patio is a quite satisfying job.  :y

But then you get the water bill!  :o  Which is why I only do it every other year.  ::)  ;D
Makes no difference if you don't have a water meter  :y

Yep, nice looking car.

It will be interesting to see how you get on with it over time.

What headlights do you have? I am unimpressed withmy bi xenons. I guess LEDs are the go to now.

It's got Bi-xenons that go round corners for some reason, How I've managed all these years going round corners I don't know..

The DS had them in the 70s  ;)
