Panic Buying
« on: 22 March 2020, 12:45:24 »

There seems to be no let up.

Raises a lot of questions for me. E.g. where on earth are they putting it all? Especially the frozen foods?

By now , I was expecting the situation to ease but  no it continues. Is this latecomers to the game panic buying because their neighbours did last week? Surely soon it will normalise?

I don't understand it either.  :-\

I've got loads in as for nearly a month now I've been buying something extra every time I go shopping, so even if Boris gets the SAS to surround and blockade me I'll be fine for a few weeks.  :y

The diet might get a bit dull mind if the apocalypse comes due to the lack of fresh fruit and veg, so I might die of scurvy rather than the China virus.  :D

There was a reasonable selection of multi vitamins in Asda last week, and I have some in because my lads diet consists of student food (you can find it in the crappy shite food aisle), so I keep on at him to at least eat a banana and take a pill.

What you have to remember is that some people where working in the week and shop at weekends anyway
it's getting towards the end of the month and some do a month's shopping on payday
I for one , used to (before any of this)buy bulk on UHT milk, beans, potato, etc etc to last a month and Mrs builder shops for fresh stuff on her lunch break .
now shopping for relatives in self isolation +bits for little old lady next door
so i look fit and healthy and greedy when shopping  ;D
much could be said of everyone having a ration book
this is a war after all
you just don't notice the bullet holes  :P

It seems the NHS is having to panic buy personal protection equipment (PPE) and I'm sure the shouty leftwaffe mob will be pointing the finger at Boris.  ::)

I guess ultimately the buck stops with Boris, but you really have to wonder what the highly paid NHS senior management have been doing?   :-\

After all it's not like the China virus has arrived on our doorstep without advance notice?  ::)

I'm bemused by the queue of people waiting for Asda/Tesco/Sainsbury to open.

Don't panic said Corporal Jones. :)

Not just Britain. Spanish health service is also woefully lacking.in basic protective gear. Mrs V gave her GP a face mask from her supply for the coming pollen season. They are at least two weeks ahead of the UK.

Why would the countries making stuff sell it rather than keep it.?

True, but they should have seen this coming a couple of months ago.  ::)

usually from my desk in the lounge I can see a pair of mallard (six today) on the pond 30ft away, and a couple of pheasant cocks just beyond, no need to leave the house.
