Swarking sound
« on: 14 November 2010, 17:50:34 »

I was syringing some oil out if my spark plug wells earlier (have a weeping rocker cover gasket) started engine and noticed a swarking screeching sound from above the alternator. It sounds like some worn bearings to me. Would it be the aux belt tensioner making that noise? Cheers.

Dont go too far before you change it. Mine started making a noise and ~30 miles later the tensioner disintegrated and shredded the aux belt.

Same happened to mine last Friday - no more than 20 miles from noise to the plastc pulley wheel disintegrating and belt shredding. Tensioner still appears OK but couldn't get the pulley wheel on its own so whole new tensioner it was! Anyone need a tensioner minus the plastic pulley wheel?

Who told you that? Your dealer? As per another thread, the pulley IS available on its own. ;)
