There was some idiot on the news this evening saying "It might be dangerous for those around him! What if some of the Nitrogen leaks out from the mask?".

Ermmm.. ::)

You definitely want to steer clear of lentils and pulses, or the fire brigade will be picking up pieces of your property  ;D

.. again. ::)

I'm still none the wiser as to why "experts" claim this could be "deadly". ::)

Is it April fools day? ::)

Apparently not. It's the future.  :)

Well, I'm glad I'm finance free. I have never bought a car on finance, and now the mortgage(s) are finished I can just about scrape by and keep the wolf from the door.
Yeah, but what happens when the software has a spaz, an thinks you are behind on the non-existent finance....

Because car manufacturers are great at writing software... :-\

V70 is FWD though so just towing the rears along.

Indeed. If it's not a proper car, the rear wheels are just for decoration. ;D

.. and, for an opportunity to own an example... https://www.motorious.com/articles/highlights/both-halves-of-james-bonds-1984-renault-11-txe-for-sale/

Apparently nobody knew the DASH8 was on the runway because it doesn't have ADSB. Hmm...

That's a mis-understanding of how ADSB is used.

There is full ADSB-out whereby an aircraft transmits its lat-long when interrogated by a SSR radar source. This is what things like FR24 rely on to track aircraft. But there is also an earlier standard (Mode S) where the aircraft replies to normal Mode A/C/S SSR interrogations, but does not respond to ADSB position requests.

Most military/government aircraft do not respond to ADSB position requests, and hence don't show up on FR24 and the like. They will show up on the airports own SSR radar screens due to the Mode S responses.

There are some 'open world' tracking sites such as ADSB Exchange that support something called MLAT. This allows non ADSB-out aircraft to be located by triangulation. However, for that to work it needs at least 3 receivers to be getting signals from the aircraft, and in that area of Japan it appears coverage is not good enough to track anything by MLAT below about 1500'. So the coast guard plane doesn't show on any publically accessible trcking sites.

Just because you and I can't 'see' it on FR24 does not mean that ATC cannot see it on their screens.

I'm well aware how ADSB works. I was making a comment on the quality of the Sky reporting that postulated the above, and I'd be very surprised if any aircraft, military, civil or other, was allowed to operate from an international commercial airport without some form of EC.

I thought major airports had warning systems to avoid runway incursions these days?

Still, nothing is infallible in aviation.

Still, I saw the video and thought everybody would be dead, so kudos to the cabin crew for getting everyone out. (and the passengers for not being bell ends about it)

Yup, watched that and went what a waste of money.
Watched that too, quite impressive.  Just wondered at the time if those attending paid the ULEZ fee. Probably all EV owning crowd.

Had to mute the TV due to the bilge they were playing through the speakers.

Not a million miles away from Cape Town either 8)

No, and some great driving roads in the hills around there too. ;D

Did Christmas in Cape Town a few years back.

Not jealous at all. :(

Franschoek is worth a visit next time if you like your wine. They have a little train that takes you round all the wineries.

My recollections beyond that might be a little hazy. ;)

Put a deposit down on the Zafira's successor  :y
Dacia Duster or CL500 :-\

Sadly the requirement of 7 seats ruled out both those options (the cl500 I have a definite soft spot for).

Went for a Ford Galaxy tdci 163ps in the end as all the grand voyagers I saw were either ropey, expensive or both.  ???

We had a look at a couple of Zaf Tourers but the third row space just wasn't sufficient - not that it bothered me any as I will always be a first row passenger.

The Galaxy handles very well for its size and given it has 50% more power and about 120% more torque than the zafira it should go well enough for a family bus.

Seeing as I know you all love an opportunity to tell people they've spent too much on their cars  ;D

On a side note Stemo, if you're looking for out and out space, I reckon you could lose mutley in here no problem!

Looks good to me. :y

.. but wait until TheBoy spots the Sony head unit. :-X

Between the depreciation and the impending battery failure that it would be cheaper to run a G wagen.

Nobody deserves to drive a G wagon. ;)

Had one as a pool car at a previous job. How can anything drink so much diesel while being so slow?

The one time we had a play in 4wd mode it sunk to its axles and very nearly stranded us. PoS.

I'm quite happy with my SKY+ box, but they keep contacting me to 'upgrade' to SKY Q

I was, but after hearing the benefits, I changed to Sky Q

Can record 3 channels at the same time  - so they told me.
Search facillies are better. etc.

If you lose the remote you can press a button on the box and the remote will buzz.  (used that facility a few times)

A lot better box all round. :y

It never belongs to us as the old boxes did.
Cant use the old box as a 2nd unit  so I was told.

I got it dor £20 a month so no complaints from me. :y
I have trouble finding one channel that's worth watching, never mind recording.
Search facilities? Easy, even on sky+ box
I don't lose my remote and, if I do, I have two more  ;D

I've finally convinced SWMBO to let me "upgrade" to no longer paying uncle Rupert any of my money. :y

Noted the ciggy lighter blanking plug was missing from her socket in the armrest cubby hole.

10 minutes with Tinkercad resulted in:

About 20 minutes to print, all sorted.  Should stop any shite getting in when not in use, especially metallic shite ;D

I don't think mine has ever not had a phone charger shoved into it. ;D
