It probably has already been answered on here but I cann't find it. So here goes, I have a 02 2.6 that seems to lose coolant from the coolant tank so you can see the top of the thing inside the tank, after standing for nearly a week enough to put on the coolant low warning. After putting the ignition on without starting the car, pressing the brake to remove the check message, it is replaced by the coolant warning one.  I have looked for physical signs both inside the car up under the dash, in the footwells near the HBV as best I can using my hand to check for leaks. Smelt the coolant in the coolant tank for petrol smell nothing, just had a oil change and no water contaminants in it. No oil contaminants in the coolant. The car doesn't overheat and stays at normal temperature, also heater works on hot and cold no problem. I have looked underneath the coolant tank incase it is leaking from underneath, but nothing can be seen. No white or steam coming from the exhaust when the engine is running.

I know when the car is turned off there is no vacuum, so would the HBV be allowed to leak, because of no Vacuum going to it(if that makes sense)? There is no sign of escaping water from it, when the car is running.

Thanks for any replies. I do have a HBV to replace it, I just thought I would ask more knowledgeable people.

That's what it said when I looked, but  it is shown as the proper part. Most of the sites show it as fitting the Catera.

Omega General Help / Part 90467543

I was wandering, I know Vauxhall don't sell this part anymore, but searching on Google it came up with the same part for Saab. Has anyone tried local Saab dealer to see if it is the same part and if it is available for sale?  I read on the old forum pages about someone suggested using a rubber O ring in its place, has anyone tried it and if so does it work, if it does what size O ring is needed?

Hi Swordfish, can you tell us what it was causing the problem, and how you fixed it.

Might give me something I haven't looked at.

Thanks

My wifes rear wiper on her estate, does this. When I was looking for a repair I found the following site. Might be of some relevance to someone?  I know it doesn't mention Omega, but they must be nearly the same inside. http://www.vauxhallownersnetwork.co.uk/index.php?threads/astra-how2-to-fix-astra-vectra-zafira-wiper-motor-parking-fault.166111/

As you say probably more trouble than it is worth, was just thinking out loud.

Last time I had to remove some stuck arms on a friends car, I used a ball joint tool similar to this, it worked great:- https://www.autozone.com/loan-a-tools/tie-rod-end-puller

I have a HBV ready for collection from Local Vauxhall Dealer £22.08p including Vat. I was just wandering has anybody thought about moving the HBV from behind the engine, to say maybe oneside of the engine? I know the pipes would all need extending including the Vacuumn one. It would make life easier if the HBV broke again. I know some people say if not broken don't touch, but if the HBV is being replaced, would this idea not make sense?

Omega General Help / Re: Oil filter conversion Part Number
« on: 18 May 2018, 16:45:49 »
I am hoping that it can be undone, will ask the person to make sure it is done up by hand and not air wrench, when putting top back on. The mechanic has been in the business for years, when I told him the type he said no problem. The garage does have the advantage over me of a lift.

Well my worst fears happened. I could not get the top off the oil filter housing, so have now booked it in with the local garage, for them to fight with it.  If they manage to get the top off, at a later date I will be changing over to the screw on type. I have had enough of the type on now.

I liked all the Victors, but the one I always wanted was a VX 490. I was also amazed at the engine in the normal victors that had a slant on it, it looked as if a V8 had been cut down the middle. ;D

The last one I had converted, was done by Daz in Stoke on Trent. I can still picture him cursing with the body because it wouldn't undo straight away.  I have found what I think is the right piece but just need it confirming, by someone in the know.  The Number given in the Oil filter conversion, (90412159) no longer is available. I was told that the part number given to me (90144360), has replaced it. If it is the correct one, then I can purchase it and Red Threadlock.

If the one on at the moment comes undone, will use it until next oil change and do conversion.

Thanks
