Markie has had one or two I think ::) You'll be very lucky to find one that hasn't been hammered, that's what people buy them for ;)

I was offered one last week as a swap for me saab, but as has already been said most of them have been floged to death! The same with most Vittessa's you come accross, floged!  ::)

An average motor with Rover build quality....add an average turbo engine (at best) and you get an average car.....

At least they have more head room than the 2 and 4 series cars...

one of the better Rovers, yes ive had a few  :P

Usual K series engine on most, some have very reliable Honda engine 623 etc.

The model in question the TI is a bit of a beast - if you find it in good condition. 2litre with a turbo giving 200bhp.

Watch out for high miles - they dont like that with turbos failing far earlier than the likes of SAAB and volvo.

Gearboxes tent to give up and get clunky about 100000 and calipers are dear and freuently need replaced.
That said a good example will be had rust free, later model, good condition with service hstory for well under a grand.

And make sure that turbo kicks in - you will know if its working  :)

No expense has been spared in maintaining this vehicle to the highest standard.  The engine and turbocharger were replaced less than 18K miles ago.

So properly maintained and the engine went pop at 72k! That concurs with my mate's experiences with a 220 Turbo coupe. Went like the clappers when it worked but it burnt out exhaust valves, blew head gaskets and all sorts. I think that engine meeded a bit more development before the blower was bolted on. I remember reading a review of one of these when they were new. It ended with a loud bang and bits of big end being found on the scuttle.

True, Kevin, but if this engine only lasts 50,000, you've still got 35 left. And they are a HOOT :y

i owned 1 about a year ago after selling a volvo t5 was very impressed for a rover fuel consumption was very good for 2.0 turbo and 200 bhp gets powerdown nice but nothing much to look at definate wolf in sheeps clothing i got the p**s taken out of me by mates, at 22 driving a "rover" (1st thing i did was take the ti badge off the boot before i got it home. 2nd was to take them on a test drive ! 3rd was then ask em if its a old mans car now)
good allround car but can have gearbox problems thjey just arnt strong enough
definatly worth a test drive if nothing else

Thanks for the feedback.
I have taken the omega off ebay as I cannot bring myself to part with it. Going to take her off the road for 2 months and get her back into shape.
I think it was outclassing a decent bmw the other day that finalised my decision.
