Omega era over...
« on: 19 June 2010, 19:18:41 »

The day has finally arrived, the Omega's have gone and I must admit to feeling a sense of loss after more than ten years of ownership of these excellent cars.  :'( :'( :'(

Contrary to popular belief, the three cars I have owned have been superbly reliable and have had the lowest running costs of any I have owned including depreciation.
Fast, quiet and smooth they have always been an absolute pleasure to drive and have never let us down.
A big thank you to all of those on OOF who have assisted me with routine maintenance issues, your help was much appreciated as it made the last few years outside warranty much more enjoyable and to be honest, far more memorable. It was great to be able to "do something myself" and to feel that it had been done properly. To all those that helped me, through the forum and through the excellent "How To" Guides, you deserve thanks and recognition for sharing your expertise and knowledge, you are a great team.
:y :y :y :y :y :y :y :y :y :y

It was a sad moment to watch my last Omega disappear into the distance without me.
To all of you who still have them, I wish you well.

Common question i hear from people, i am in the same boat, although needs to replace it will be zero hopefully soon.

What other car is cheap as chips to buy, parts (with TC) are cheap, most things easily DIY service, RWD, comfy, handle well and practical  :-/

VXR8 would be nice but expensive, Phaetons are nice, and fairly cheap considering launch price, but they are a Bentley with a VW badge, so can expect Bentley running costs  :(

Passat is FWD? Beemer 5 series is about only serious choice  :-/
