Omega General Help / Re: MV6 Exhaust Manifold Leak
« on: 14 May 2013, 16:41:34 »
Still haven't done the job yet but what is the advantage of changing to 3.2L manifolds? do they fit the Exhaust pipes?
and will the drivers side manifold come off to change the gasket?

Did the nuts come off the stud ok? and how is the access? when you say ticking did you change the manifold and gasket then?

Omega General Help / MV6 Exhaust Manifold Leak
« on: 05 May 2013, 10:14:01 »
The RH Exhaust manifold is blowing on my 3.0L MV6, can't see if it is cracked or the gasket. at first I thought it was the Manifold to exhaust joint but that is ok. Can't anyone tell me how hard a job it is to remove the manifold to replace the gasket, I have read the studs can snap and there is the access issue. any tips would be appreciated.

Have removed the screw that holds the switch but can't get it to come off, I have removed the key/barrel. if I have to get a new barrel assembly it is held by the screws that the head break off, will I have to drill them out?

Only had a quick look, I take it you mean the switch on the end of the barrel, it doesn't click at each point anymore.

Is the key transponder in the blade part of the key? so if tie wrap it to the new barrel I use another barrel and key?

Yes I have the car pass (it also has the audio codes on it) have you any idea of the price of a barrel from a dealer?

Omega General Help / MV6 ignition

I have just went to use my car and the ignition has gone, the key turns but engine will not turn over when I remove the key the dash lights are still all on and the key spins freely no notch between positions. obviously I will need a new ignition barrel.

The car is a 98 3.0L MV6 if I get a new barrel and key off Ebay is the transponder in the lower part of the key? which will mean have to get new keys programmed, or do I need new barrel, key, transponder and ECU? any advice of the easiest fix will be appreciated.

Omega General Help / Clutch Problem
« on: 25 November 2012, 23:11:46 »
While driving my MV6 1998 manual on Saturday I felt something brake while pressing the clutch pedal, this resulted in the pedal feeling spongy with no bite. I could still drive the car just but the pedal now has no feel and the clutch is slipping when reved.
I have jacked up the car and there are no fluid leaks, the pedal and clutch cylinder are ok the fluid level is correct so I am confused as what could have happened, I can only think part of the clutch plate has broken or the slave cylinder.
Any ideas or advice would be appreciated.

I haven't been through any deep water lately, but obviously the roads a very wet at the moment. it was a noticable change in pedal feel, and it is differnt now which could point to fluid leaking but it would be wet under the car and the resivoir would be low.

I will jack the car up tomorrow to see if I can find the problem.

I've checked the fluid (I take it is only the 1 resivoir) that is above the min mark. there was no bang when it went and no sign of fluid, but I haven't got under the car yet.

Omega General Help / MV6 Clutch issues
« on: 24 November 2012, 13:10:36 »
Can anyone help, I was just driving my 98 MV6 (3.0L) manual when I changed gear I felt some go (like a cable had snapped) but with it being hydraulic this obviously isn't the case, the pedal then felt strange light and not working correctly. I can pull away and change gear but the clutch is now slipping when I rev the car.

I have managed to get it home but will need to remove the box to sort it. is this some thing anyone else has had? I figured it might br the slave cylinder gone but would that cause the clutch to slip.

Thanks
Craig

Paper clip test gave codes 59 & 73 (inlet manifold valve 1 & Air Flow Sensor) but as these were from the orignal engine I asume they are ok. Also the englne fault light is not lite up on the dash.
