Handbrake cable Q?
« on: 30 March 2014, 18:09:18 »

Anyone know of a place in the north-west that makes em to order???? I'm doin a job for a friend who has a Renault Scenic (I know bag of crap). Its got one of those stupid electronic handbrakes and one of the cables (left one) has snapped at the lug at the end. You can't buy just the cable it seems & Renault was £700 for a whole new unit!!!

Can you give me full details, preferably with pictures, of the offending item, please. I have spent all of my working life in Electronics, design, repair and teaching so if it is within my skills mix I'd be happy to help.

Ron.

Hi RobG,

Cheers for the link but unfortunately they ain't the right ones, its the 7 seater version, there is one seller offering 2 for £235 I've just this minute found, but they sound really expensive & I don't like the look of the feedback.

I ain't got em off yet so I can't pass any details yet I'm afraid, thanks for the offer.  :y  I just went round after work to have a look underneath and found the snapped cable. Only 1 side has gone and it does seem pretty easy to replace, BUT its just trying to get the cable without the whole damn control module.

Nevermind, they've moved to Trafford Park now by the looks of it...

Theres a late model breakers in Coppul/Standish that might have the part you need or you could try Hills breakers in Skelmersdale...
