The positive, of course, is that a subframe and wishbones are not part of the chassis, structure etc. They are bolt on components - the car is still solid :y :y

That is a brave thing to say about an almost twenty year old Land Rover any large 4x4

I'll rephrase..

Apart from the subframe and suspension arms, there's currently nothing structurally wrong, that has been found on the MOT  ;D
Rephrased for you :D

A year's ticket, is a year's ticket  ;D
Your last suggested that it had passed, which is where I got confused, because, as you say, it has clearly failed ;)

exhaust full of soot on a tractor that don't get a good ragging because the owner is scared him MPG figure will fall below 65 MPG

65+ Mpg being the level at which driving a French tractor is just tolerable  ;)   :P

Wouldn't that require spending more time in it? Surely the idea would be to get everywhere flat out to spend the barest minimum of time in it...  :D

Which is how they're driven in France. Spain. Italy. Everywhere but here, where we treat cars as pets either pampered or neglected but not as tools.

Have a cigar Dave.  :y Failed emissions due to the above. Went for a drive and thrashed the living daylights out of it. By the time I got back to the garage, the slightly leaking injector seal on number4 had given up altogether, and blowing diesel all over the engine, so a further test was pointless.  ::)

Currently 65.4mpg to be precise.  :)

Easy fix then  :) new injector seal

New seal, carb cleaner to clean the mess up and a bottle of Diesel system cleaner purchased from Eurocraprats today for the princely sum of £13.
Should all be sorted by noon tomorrow. Hopefully retest Monday.  :y

I thought all Pug owners drove at 30mpg on the open road, rising to 45mph when entering villages?

I try to drive at 35mph everywhere as its the lowest tractable speed for top gear.  :y
Although when freewheeling downhills I sometimes achieve much higher speeds.  ;D
Injector seal now replaced and a bottle of Wynns diesel treatment chucked in the tank. Ready for retest now, just need to remember to give it a sound thrashing on the way there.

Thats how they need driving all the time.  I quite like driving underpowered shitboxes, because you just rag them everywhere.  Thank the Lord for hire cars ;D
