Thanks to Daz's help the Omega is now off the "attention needed" list.

Which means my attention turns to Son's 206 (2002, 1.6 16v). Does anybody (a) have some experience of these or (b) know where I can get fault codes read easily in West Midlands?

Current symptoms are intermittent very rough running (lumpy 3 cyl) with "Anti Pollution Fault" display. A quick scan of P206 forums shows no obvious common culprit. Changed plugs already.

When you look at other car forums it reinforces just how good OOF is  :)

coil pack is a common fail on them as is the injector loom which can break up and switch off an injector

no 4 injector prone to fail too daughter one has done that. 206 forum is crap though

Wel just over a week ago I went over to Kevin with the ELM325 and the lappy. A whole list of missfire codes and a couple of non-sensicle codes all showing as not present. A little investigatory dismantling soon had me on the brink of stating cam belt failure so off came the cover! Cam belt was (in places) half it's normal width and looking very sorry for itself!

Been back over today and took a Gates kit. Got it all stripped down, set the crank to TDC and both cams were miles off! A quick google and the new belt and tensioners were fitted all correctly aligned. Re-fitted the cover and then we spent half an hour trying to figure out how the aux belt went back on ;D ;D Thinking it had taken valves (being a 16v) we tentatively turned it over and it roared into life! A little top end rattly but that soon quietened down once the lifters re-filled. I left kevin just as it was getting too dark to work with it ticking over as sweet as a nut.

A nice afternoons work all in all and thank Mrs KevinM for the tea for me please Kevin :y

Yes Z, it's not often a resolution gets posted so I thought I would for this one ;) I was, however, very surprised that there weren't any valves gone as I didn't think any of the 16v engines were non-contact! :y

Thanks, Lee. Your diagnosis was spot on. Car now goes like snow off a shovel ...

Son has got his car back for Xmas, and no more Taxidad for me.

I will have no hesitation in recommending your work - a great job done enthusiastically in adverse weather.
