Wel just over a week ago I went over to Kevin with the ELM325 and the lappy. A whole list of missfire codes and a couple of non-sensicle codes all showing as not present. A little investigatory dismantling soon had me on the brink of stating cam belt failure so off came the cover! Cam belt was (in places) half it's normal width and looking very sorry for itself!
Been back over today and took a Gates kit. Got it all stripped down, set the crank to TDC and both cams were miles off! A quick google and the new belt and tensioners were fitted all correctly aligned. Re-fitted the cover and then we spent half an hour trying to figure out how the aux belt went back on
Thinking it had taken valves (being a 16v) we tentatively turned it over and it roared into life! A little top end rattly but that soon quietened down once the lifters re-filled. I left kevin just as it was getting too dark to work with it ticking over as sweet as a nut.
A nice afternoons work all in all and thank Mrs KevinM for the tea for me please Kevin
