Mk1 Ford Escort Estate  8)
No such thing as a 'Zetec' back then was there?  Replacement engine then?

Nice thing, very cool daily runabout  8)

I doubt very much it's actually mot exempt though, given the amount of changes it's undergone... :-\

Over 40 or newer. BMW aren't great with the compliance. Early E60s don't comply for example. :-\

Worked on loads of them, not a bad motor TBH. Putting on my best M Cane voice, did you know they used the Maxi doors on the Marina.

Whenever I see a Maxi I remember a farmer mate of my Dad's who used to turn up in his Maxi, open the boot and half a dozen sheepdogs would jump out.

When he left, he'd open the boot and they'd all jump back in, and off they'd go.  :)  He'd probably get done for animal cruelty these days.  ::)

Wonder why they didn't make the Maxi as a hatchback/estate type car?  :-\

Maxis were hatchbacks. Are you thinking of the Princess, which looked like one but wasn't?

Yes you're probably right, or it might have been a Land Crab.  A big scruffy old BL anyway.  :)
