Omega General Help / 2.2DTi manual gearbox ratios?
« on: 27 October 2022, 09:42:30 »
Does anyone on here know if the manual gear ratios in a 2.2DTi Diesel differ from the 2.2 Petrol manual box, or 2.5/3.0V6 etc. Officially the 3.2 only had autos behind them unless you were in uniform and driving a "special", but did they just use the same gearbox as a 2.2Petrol? I realise that because diesels don't rev, they tend to have longer final drive ratios in the diff, but wasn't sure if the ratios in the box differed too.
Thanks.

Please has anyone got a working 3.2V6 dual ram intake solenoid valve 90466214? it is not desperate in that the car still runs, but I'd like it to run better :) And it will be easier to fit now, whilst the car is all in bits. Thanks.

Omega Gallery / Not quite a classic car show
« on: 20 July 2022, 14:56:47 »
I managed to get an invitation to an Emergency vehicle car show, which is held at Manchester Airport runway park. In a former life, my car may have been on the other side of the fence collecting dignitaries direct from their planes in its role as a GMP VIP car.

Also present was the infamous Car Wars Thames Valley undercover camera/pursuit car OV03LJL which was full of all kinds of fascinating gadgets

With many other interesting vehicles in attendance it was a great day out and I was very glad of working AC on the drive home!

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Free to a good home
« on: 27 May 2022, 08:09:06 »
I am having a clear out, and if you can pick it up THIS WEEKEND you can have it.
3.2 Elite Auto box, from 105,000mile car, seemed to work ok before it was removed, dry stored since
Sunroof, was working before being removed.
Various random bits of beige trim, heater box etc  may have already been put in the wheelie bin, but you can poke about in there if you want to. Doors, switches, seats and dash have already gone.
I'll be around Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning by arrangement.
I won't keep anything for you, or post it, unit has to be cleared by Monday, and then it will be gone.
Thanks.

Omega General Help / MV6 Facelift bodykit
« on: 27 April 2022, 08:47:48 »
Please does anyone on here know whether the rear bumper on a facelift MV6 is the same as the one normally fitted to all Omega, or is it a special "Prodrive" moulding like the rear spoiler and front bumper?
I can't tell any difference, but haven't been able to put one next to another or see if there are any identifying logos/numbers on the inside.

Omega Gallery / Y11VXL MV6
« on: 15 June 2021, 16:01:52 »
Finally got to find an appealing setting and decent light to show off the Satin Red paintwork on Y11 VXL better than a dreary day on the industrial estate...

Hoping for similar weather for VBOA show at Sywell early July

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / AR35 Autobox
« on: 11 January 2021, 15:39:31 »
Offered on here before listing elsewhere, was taken from 115,000mile car and was working fine, but could probably benefit from an oil and filter change. £100 collected from Northants (if possible within current restrictions). Carriage by arrangement, would have to be palletised, so extra cost.

Omega General Help / Y32SE cold start low revs
« on: 06 January 2021, 09:19:50 »
Please can anyone tell me if they know why my MV6 doesn't seem to have any cold start enrichment or raised idle speed.  It always starts and has a strong battery, but it just sits at about 700-800rpm from stone cold, as if it is warm, when it definitely isn't.  Is here a value from the engine temp sensor that I can check?  Any other ideas will be much appreciated.  It won't be long before the engine comes out for a manual conversion and attention to all the oil leaks, but I'd like to sort this while it is still in one piece.  Thanks

Omega Gallery / New ex-GMP MV6 purchase

Looking forward to showing this off at Beaulieu this weekend.

Still shocked at how well it has been looked after, for an ex-service car.

Omega General Help / How to move drivers seat without power
« on: 21 August 2020, 11:51:24 »
This is probably common knowledge to all the Omega cognoscienti, but it was new to me.  During the strip down of my 3.2 spares car it became clear that I should have removed the drivers seat before taking the battery and all the engine wiring out, because in order to access the seat mounting bolts the powered drivers seat has to be slid all the way back to access the front ones and all the way forward to get to the rears.  On the passenger seat it was possible to hotwire the motor, but for some reason on the drivers seat, perhaps because it has a memory module, this didn't work...
Fortunately there is a failsafe screw in the end of the motor, which you can turn with a suitable flat bladed screwdriver.

I'm sure if you had a suitable adaptor an electric drill would speed this up no end, because it requires a huge number of turns to move the seat even a small distance. Anyway sometime later we had revealed the rear bolts holding the seat frame down and it could be removed.

Anyone else going here? The entry is limited to 1000 pre-purchased tickets only, and you have to turn up in a Vauxhall.
I know some of the ABS members are going.
The more Omegas go, the less room there will be for Arden blue Corsas and Astras ;).  Sign up here:
