I notice prices are creeping up at the pumps again.
What excuse this time, or have I missed something about a duty rise recently. Went up just after Xmas here 2p, yesterday another 1p on. Not seen much fuss or news posted about it, but then with all this snow :o

General Discussion Area / Gold!
« on: 22 November 2009, 13:28:37 »
What is it with all these "We want your gold for cash" ads. Switch on the TV there on, I opened the newspaper, first ad I saw was one of those. Now just went to unlock the door, bl**dy flyer posted through, yep we want your gold.
Easy money, is it?

General Discussion Area / Ebay???
« on: 17 November 2009, 16:34:50 »
Who else finds Ebay a pain to use now?
Talking about the crazy rule now about offering free P&P in certain categories. Trying to list some mags, only putting them up for starting @ 99p but you have to give free P&P...........not worth it.
Only way around it is add it to the starting price, then I have to start paying extra listing/final value fees, then of course they probably won't sell, thus costing me more.....which idiot thought this one up.

General Discussion Area / Computer problems, any help!
« on: 28 June 2009, 14:30:30 »
My laptop is giving me grief. It's an Acer Aspire had it 18 months. The main problem is keeps freezing or saying internet page cannot be found when I'm browsing the net. A reboot gets it back but only lasts a few minutes then freezes up again. I'm using it on a wireless connection but it makes no difference because it still won't stay connected if I plug into the modem direct.
I am getting an internet connection, done all the checks (with another PC) check my firewall and anti-virus it's definately not the problem........it is defo the laptop problem, but what? Get the same probs with Firefox and Internet Explorer. Could it be a driver problem? Maybe a bug somewhere, I've done a virus check........I run AVG and Zonealarm which I have uninstalled then reinstalled but no luck.

General Discussion Area / Yet again an MOT pass!
« on: 19 May 2009, 15:47:31 »
Another pass, and no advisories again for the TD estate.
Third year of ownership and passed all times, no problem.
Was worried about the emissions, as it's been chipped but no everthing ok.

Big thanks go to Elite Pete & Loo-Knee for their work yesterday on the front brakes, without new discs & pads I'm sure it would have failed on these. The discs were absolutely gone, worse they have seen.

See you soon guys, when the parts arrive.

General Discussion Area / Classic cars?
« on: 16 May 2009, 13:19:14 »
Been looking at classic car websites lately, there are some piles of s@@t out there and also some beautifully restored/original classics.

One particular car that keeps cropping up is the Fiat 500 (not that I want one) but where do they keep appearing from. I thought all of them have rotted away by now, but low and behold there are loads around all seemingly in mint condition. And they want anything from £5000 upwards for them !!!!!!!!

Anyway I'm looking at anything classic at the moment, maybe for next year now, something sporty.......anyone else got one they use or show etc.....BTW I don't want to buy just being nosey.

General Discussion Area / Insurance
« on: 06 May 2009, 20:22:46 »
Going through the process of getting myself a better deal with the TD estate insurance.
Looking at Morethan insurance at the moment, seems ok, anyone had their insurance are they ok?

I'm currently with LV Frizzell but they don't do a multicar policy or discount for a second car. Infact I found them a bit sort of blunt and unhelpful recently when I spoke to them a couple months ago re a second car cover, so maybe they will not get my business again.

Vx Vectra diesel, anyone had one, talking latest models say 2004 onwards.
Any problems to look out for when buying, in particular the engine/gearbox etc. What are they like in general to own, reliability and any issues with them.

General Discussion Area / The load lugger does it again.
« on: 27 February 2009, 00:42:00 »
Just picked up some of that cheapo loft insulation from B & Q.
Said to the guy that served me, will need to make two trips 5 packs this time, 4 more when I return.
Well it's amazing how many I got in the TD estate, all 9 packs (3 rolls per pack), had to sought of push the tailgate a little to close it.
Just goes to show the size of the estate load area.

General Discussion Area / Energy Suppliers!
« on: 24 February 2009, 17:54:31 »
Just signed up to change suppliers from EON to Npower, good move or forget it......I've got 14 days to cancel the change over.
Heard not so good things since we signed for this, they say we will save money changing and getting £100 back after our first bill.
Any horror stories, bad experiences/customer service you can tell me, should I go elsewhere?

General Discussion Area / What's it worth?
« on: 30 January 2009, 17:32:55 »
Seen an Omega CDX for sale facelift on a "W" plate.

Needs what looks like front and rear bumpers respraying to make it look good again because they are scuffed or paint peeling off them.
Slight rust patch on the lower edge of boot lid needs doing.
Looks tidy inside apart from the after market stereo, not the usual CCR2006 that should be there. Cloth seats and original CDX alloys are there.
Now the bad bits, 125,000 miles no service history and no mention of a cambelt change, but it's got 12 months MOT and 5 months tax, says all running ok drives good it's an auto................

How much would you part with if anything given lack of service history?
