Look no further than http://www.wellandsteamrally.co.uk/ for a fantastic short break in the shadow of the beautiful Malvern Hills at our 48th annual event.

Campers are free to arrive on our campsite from 9am on Wednesday 25 July, and stay-over free of charge on the night of Sunday 29 July after the show. The campsite must be vacated by noon on Monday 30 July.

For block bookings, generously discounted camping rates are available on the advertised prices on a 'per unit' basis, and include unlimited admission to the showground.

Each year sees around 1000 camping units on-site, and although we can't supply electric hook-ups, we have mains water, chemical toilet disposal tanks, portaloos, rubbish skips, a large disabled camping area, as well as a campsite shop and 24-hour security.
There's also a Farmers Market and caterers galore on the showground itself.

The event will be sign-posted from Jct 1 and Jct 2 of the M50 motorway.

Why not join our 15000 visitors?
......... with great company and around 1000 working exhibits!

The epitome of the 1960/70s road haulage scene:

A lovingly-restored Ergomatic tilt-cabbed AEC Mercury flatbed, with AV505 engine and 6-speed constant-mesh 'box.

General Car Chat / Overheating 2.5TD
« on: 12 February 2012, 20:35:50 »
Recently had a 'seriously hot' TD admitted to the 'Tractor Centre' .................  ::)

Here's the usual culprit achilles heel:

Anyway, pump now replaced along with complete cooling system drain/flush/back-flush plus 5 litres of Vx 'red stuff' antifreeze.
After a good ragging around the Valleys, the engine temp constantly sits just above mid-point on the gauge with piping hot heating/demisting and all seems well. Fingers crossed! ;)

My personal recommendation:
Always replace the plastic-impellored BMW water pump with a Unipart metal-impellored jobbie.

Unipart's part number is: UGCGWP2585 and it retails at around 50 quid!

General Car Chat / Breathing new life into a TD

Spring 2010:

Our previous TD Estate had been purchased by my colleague Markseth as per: http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=45945.0

At this time, his TD saloon was in need of a fair amount of expenditure. Due to a change in circumstances, he really needed an Estate - so the logical solution was to transfer the 'good' running gear from his saloon into our superfluous vehicle.

Here's a few pictures of the proceedings:

The redundant saloon is moved out of the 'stripping bay' with a little persuasion!

Just the rear wheels to remove whilst we await the arrival of the recycling people.

Within the hour 'a man with a lorry' arrives.

It's a fond farewell as it begins it's final journey!

Remove the rear bucket from the JCB, and you get an excellent engine hoist.
Here's the elusive Markseth - he should stick with driving trains for a living!

Time to let the professional take over!
The complete lump's about to be transplanted into the already-prepared Estate in the background.

Here's the finished product - 'Plus 5' chip and brand-new MoT thrown-in for good measure.
It now resides in the Rhondda Valley with a contented owner!

The first South Wales Meet takes place on Sunday 4 December commencing at 1130am.

The venue is the South Wales Miners Museum in the conifer-clad Afan Valley north of Port Talbot.

Clicky: http://www.southwalesminersmuseum.co.uk/about%20the%20museum.html

Heather and her staff are looking forward to our visit, and have kindly offered to reserve part of the car park for us. The museum is within the Afan Forest Park, and is on the A4107 road. It's around 10 minutes scenic drive from the M4 J40 at Port Talbot - just follow the plentiful brown tourist signs!

More here: http://www.southwalesminersmuseum.co.uk/how%20to%20find%20us.html

After refreshments, we'll proceed in convoy via the Pelenna valley and along the Vale of Neath to the Neath Canal basin at Resolven. Decent photographic opportunities should be possible throughout the day.

The closing ceremony should be around mid-afternoon, whence we can each return home for a belated Sunday roast!

General Discussion Area / New OOF "BBQ Guru" ???
« on: 06 October 2011, 03:25:59 »
Not a lot of members know this, but Bob Dent, our 'official BBQ master' may well have some serious culinary competition at Newent 2012 ............

Whilst this scribe wouldn't succumb to rumours you understand, the photographic evidence seems to speak for itself in this instance:

It seems that this chap's receiving some expert tuition from Mrs Seth.
The Global Moderator burnt me and dad1uk's sausages though!

Could it be that he's secretly syphoning Mrs Seth's tipple here?
I ask you ............  ;D

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / TOWBAR ELECTRICS
« on: 01 March 2010, 19:15:22 »
Anyone know if there's a Vx loom/plug available to connect into when wiring the 12N socket from the towbar?

Or is it a case of using Scothlok-type connectors behind the N/S/R light unit?

Oh, it's my '99 mini-facelift estate that this concerns.
TIA.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / DASH DISPLAY MEMORY
« on: 23 October 2008, 21:58:11 »
Just fitted a genuine dash display unit.

Switched on the radio, (CAR400 model), and all presets remain okay, time and temp also okay.

With radio switched off, 'Program' is displayed instead of the date.
Followed the handbook instructions, and input the date. After a few seconds, the date disappears and 'Program' reappears.

What have or haven't I done fellas? Any pointers greatly appreciated.

Omega General Help / 2.5TD Thermostat
« on: 21 December 2010, 21:40:09 »
Have fitted a genuine Vx 'stat to our TD after Tech 2 check at Newent earlier in the year.

Previously, it ran at around the 90 mark on the gauge.

With the new 'stat it now runs pretty constantly at around the 95 mark on the gauge.
The cooling system also had a good flush, bled itself quite easily, and now has 50% Vx red antifreeze added. According to Mrs Sethsmate, the car warms up much quicker and the heater's noticeably better.

Personally, I reckon that 95 degrees is a bit on the warm side - or maybe it needs another Tech 2 chat.

Any thoughts?
 ;)

Omega General Help / Wishbone query
« on: 23 November 2010, 13:12:41 »
Have just fitted Powerflex bushes in new Lemforder wishbones, which should be fitted later in the week.

Just noticed that one of the 'bones has (what appears to be) the lock-stop insert missing.
It came out of the sealed bag in this condition.
 :-[

Can this insert be removed from the existing 'bone, (which is the car's original), and fitted to the new one?
 :question
