I'll be really glad to see the Vulcan back in the skies again. Too much of our engineering heritage gets forgotten. The powers that be would face a lot of criticism if works of art were not preserved despite painting a picture or writing a piece of music being a trivial endeavour in comparison to the achievements of British engineering (IMHO). It's about time (and probably too late) that some effort went in to preserving it, especially given the scarcity of any modern day achievements of note.

I recall you spoke of your insurance getting the hump last time you swapped cars. Is this now resolved or is it worth sticking with the veccy for a while?

A mate of mine was speaking of maybe getting a dual fuel VX estate of some sort. Not sure if he'll be put off by the mileage but I'll put a word in.

Back to the problem in hand.

I saw a real Escort today - they need XFlow, Pinto or reegine with a Cosworth lump

... although personally I could live with a BDA too, I suppose... :-*

If the injectors are the same part number there's no problem.

I hope they were the same injectors?

Good though!

:y Checked the part number on the side.

Were off a 2.5 V6 same year.

I was led to beleive the smaller V6s had smaller injectors - but anyway it's good to get them working

Have you got the injector part numbers? Would be as well to check they are the same flow rate as you don't want to have a couple of cylinders running lean.

Where did that jack come from? Looks ideal for fitting under a Westfield!

Bit concerned that the gasket is for a 2.0 but if the bore's the same I guess the gasket is also the same..

I'm surprised an MV6 with no exhausts didn't feature in Hotel21's solution....

I can second the recommendation for Zen. They are very good. Only problems I've had have been when a BT muppet in the exchange cut the wrong wire. All ISPs are in the same boat if that happens. Just have to wait.

I have experience of Vispa as well. Not quite as stable as Zen IMHO (DNS seems to get slow sometimes) but still excellent and more than adequate for home use.

I get same problem with MV6, cannot get to bottom of it - intermittent no sound from drivers door.  When it does it, the tweeter goes all distorted.

Blimey! mine does exactly the same. I put it down to having installed an amp and cooked the speakers ::) although I haven't been listening to it that loud :-/.

Do you find it worse with speech type radio programs than with music? Speech gets horribly distorted through my speakers but they sound fine with music. I'm pretty sure it's the speakers themselves. May try and find some decent speakers that'll fit without too much hacking about.

... anyway, speaking of mad b'stards, I was on my way to the tyre depot this morning and it occurred to me that my rear tyres only had to last me another 5 miles...  ::)

I got some free beer through work this week... Sitting outside a bar in Munich (at least it was warm enough ::)). Had to put up with the Germans taking the p**s ad nauseum when the footie ended though. ::)

I think (can someone please confirm) that 90 degrees past TDC should leave engine 'safe' from piston v valves battle.

Yep. Turn it to 90deg from TDC and you can take everything apart without worrying as the pistons will all be 1/2 way down the bores.

Yep. Echo the above. Don't set yourself a tight deadline, it gets done when it's done. When you get stuck on something don't panic, just take a break and come back fresh to it. It's not a hard job and immensely satisfying when you have completed it, especially if you've done it on your tod.
