Changed my interior
« on: 13 June 2011, 19:49:34 »

Before - well not quite. I had already replaced the light grey carpets and the glovebox etc. with the dark ones at this point.

And after. Changed carpets, seats, doorcards, glovebox, fuse cover panel and drivers side storage box.

£6.50 - I trust you have returned this to the previous owner?

Leather does look good, will be sourcing some for my estate elite soon.

Not yet. Got me an "My Naff Code Reader" thingy but the software disc is apparently blank. Lazycrip.. lazybreak.. Lazydocker sent me a link for it, but I cant make head nor tail out of it, so he is going to help me sort it when he comes down on a pilfering mission soon. ::) :D

Hi - I am doing my seats in the next few weeks - is the airbag light something that happens from removing the seats?

Also - are there any special issues to remoging the fronts - e.g. on my old astra I had to do something to stop the seatbelt pretensioner going off on removal.

Just disconnect the battery 30 minutes before unplugging electrics from the seats in the donor car,and the same when removing them from your car. When you install them in your car you may need a small wiring alteration to the drivers seat to enable the memory functions. It depends whether or not your wiring loom already has the necassary wiring and plugs etc. some do some dont- details in maintenance guides. My airbag light came on because the new pasenger seat has a child seat sensor and my old one didnt.I made the mistake of plugging the sensor in. Best to leave it unplugged. Or it may be ok to connect it if you use the airbag ecu from the donor car - although I havent tried it yet. Might do at some point in the future.

plug for child seat sensor.

Have now done a few upgrades to the exterior.
Fitted Elite alloys this morning.Had previously fitted clear side repeaters, HID headlights and headlamp washers.Changed the grill a while ago, courtesy of RobG.Fitted the Irmy badge last week which was courtesy of CliffoB - thanks.  :y  Also a pair of Bilstein B4,s on the rear which helps when towing compared with the old tired standard shocks.
It really needs a boot spoiler now. ::)

After.

Thanks Jonny. :y Still got a few items on the wishlist - boot spoiler, paint or replace bumpers (they are a bit tatty),uprated springs and front shocks, rear blind, gloss finish console trim, a real good tidy up of the front end of the LPG installation, and possibly a Bose system.
I hope to source them as and when funds allow,or when I have a breaker with the bits on that I want.I have sold two boot spoilers this year, and I wish now that I had kept one for myself. ::)
Having said all that, theres a reasonable possibility that I will sell it before I tick off all the items on the wishlist anyway. Not sure at the moment tbh. Will more than likely keep it another 6 months and then decide what to do. :y

Cheers Dan. The interior swap is well worth doing imo. :y
Finally took your tyres off the front of it today. Still a bit of life left in them, but I had to put the elite wheels on earlier than planned as the CD wheels are bound for Twiglets emprorium,to be swapped with a set of CDX alloys for my estate project, which currently has CD alloys fitted for some reason - if that makes sense ?  :-\ ;D
The reason I havent just taken the wheels off the estate and swapped with Twigs CDX wheels is that the estate has 4 newish michelins on, which I will fit onto the CDX alloys at my leisure - well,at work actually. :)

Interior looks good with the dark colour now.  Always think they look better with dark interiors not the light or cream colour.  :y

Personally I'd dump the 'wood' looking trim on the doors / dash though, as I think it makes the car out of fashion (old) and wood look only looks right in Rolls / Jag.

All that black leather looks well classy - nice job! I've got the tan leather interior and it takes some looking after! The tan seat belts get very grubby very quickly! Whhat does the autodim mirror do, I've just noticed a dot on my mirror, which is amazing considering how many times I look at it!!!

Regarding the mirror, you'll find at night that you never need to dim it for following traffic.
I guess there is a technical answer too!
