General Discussion Area / Buy to let.
« on: 10 November 2013, 20:24:33 »
Firstly evening all you OOFERS Hope you are well & your Migs are too. I don't get on here much lately but i still love the forum despite no longer having an Omega. Dad died in september, he's with Mum now who we lost in July 2011. After Mum's funeral Dad told me i would be left a 6 figure inhertance & "don't buy a Ferrari", pay your mortgage off & invest in property. Obviously i won't but some super car, i'll pay this place off so it's mine & invest in a couple of run down repo terrace houses to rent or spin round if the market allows. If i rent them it's only a small income after ins, bonds, tax on eanings, maintance etc. I'll still go to work but said propertys could be sold on my retirement as i have no pensions in place.
I'd value your opinions & advice. Guy.

Just in case any of you wondering...No it's not me but my next door neighbours Trev & Helen. In one of the shots you can see the top of my VW campervan over the fence & Tonka the Disco on a mates drive opposite waiting to be sold as i'm all out of room!
I know little about the Omega except it sounds & looks sweet & they've had no trouble with it. Only for sale as they've bought a TDV6 Rangie. Guy. :y

This campervan was stolen from Leeds a few days ago..it never returned from the test drive. It's rare 2.0 pinto petrol model, most were diesel. If you can see under the bonnet the egr valve & air flow meter are new, more noticable are the new front roof skylight & the towbar plug in is damaged. Probably stashed somewhere so i know it's a long shot but if you even think you've seen it please phone the seller on the listed no. or call your local police.
The seller has given me permission to post all above details.
Hope you are all well, Guy.

To all who have lost loved ones i sympathise. Also said photo was taken before i was born, i'm guessing late 50's maybe 1960. I popped out in 1963. I'll try to scan a more recent pic soon.

I can't really elaborate on Lizzies post. He was part of our formulative years. Top bloke.

Evening all. I no longer have a Mig..(never say never) & initially joined the forum in time for the first Lakes meet so early days. My past on here has been colourful to say the least but the years & subsequent events involving family losses have put things in perspective, suffice to say i'm less critical of others opinions. I've always enjoyed the forum & meets & would like to remain a part of it all...still friends with many of you on f/b. but miss the banter on here, Guy. 8)

I got consul 375 hiding waiting its turn  ;) the interior is done-yellow/red tuck'n'roll and all i have to do is body/paint=all welded up -it's hiding ;) :y

375's are rare. Most are/were standard. Mine's a deluxe. My last Consul was a standard one in the same yellow as yours with a white roof but sadly not as sweet as the grey one. That said it is still alive & kicking in Basildon.
When are you planning on getting yours done?... Guy. :y

Thanks all. Firstly i spent many happy years here so even if you don't hear from me for a while i'll always be the proverbial old penny. This was a small but regular meet. The yellow Cortina is mine & the two tone Consul is my new one, 3 speed column change....real hearbeat car, 53 years old!!! The rat black consul runs a 3ltr V6 essex & despite no longer having an Omega i do live next door to a facelift estate...well spotted.

Hope you are all happy, still enjoying your Migs & loving the busiest & best run forum. Guy.

General Discussion Area / VXR8.
« on: 29 January 2013, 18:05:05 »
On sunday i had a ride in mates VXR8. Yeah we all know they're quick but WOW! It's an auto & if you engage whatever mode it is when you flick the lever to the left from a standstill it takes off like a truck hit it up the arse...INSTANT!!!! 150 before you can count & brake, still not in it's stride & the grip round the roundabout & the controllable tail skip on the exit.  The owner knows i want a Monaro...( i like the 2 door coupe shape) but he advised me to pay a tad more for a 6.0 as the 5.7 has been known to suffer from head problems. I can afford to buy one outright now so would like to spend wisely. Some are by now hammered moneypits etc. so if any of you have any tips i'd value them.
I don't get on here as much as i used to so hello everyone, hope you & yours are well. Guy.

By all means move if this is in the wrong spot as it's not an Omega but some of you will love it!

Loads of money, work, help, every bush, mount brakes steering, carb, cambelt & plenty more replaced but what a result.
Happy new year to all, Guy.

Evening James. I'm not keen on microwaved jacket spuds as they need finishing off in the oven to get a crispy jacket but if you don't mind it's fine. You can get microwave egg poachers from most supermarkets etc, & you can microwave bacon. Not quite the same but edible & healthier than frying. I believe you can now buy microwave porridge/grenola for a healthy brekky but hav'nt tried it me sen'! I hate to admit this but Morrisons do 3 packs of ready mash for a quid, plain, cheese & onion, just boil a kettle & add butter & milk, season etc. Try micowave rice sachets, i swear by them. You can mix them with tinned tuna or mackerel, cooked chicken or add chopped peppers, spring onions, cucumber, tomato etc for a healthy warm salad. You can also pour your favourite tinned soups over the rice & cooked meat to make an impromtu savoury rice. Take lots of milk & cereal, a pot of marg or butter, bread, cheese & then a microwave suitable tray/bowl & any condiments you like, ketchup, salad cream etc. Just remembered if you go into the veg isle of most supermarkets they sell packs of prepared veggies, ie cauli, broccoli, carrots, just pearce the bag & steam in the microwave...HEALTHY. Take salt & pepper.

My initial advice would've been to cook a few meals you can nuke at a later date but the good folk of OOF beat me to it. Happy travelling, Guy. :y
