Omega General Help / v6 rocker covers

i have just changed my rocker cover gaskets and cleaned out my breathers on my 3.0 elite ( 'v' reg pre face lift),i have found the passenger side rocker cover cracked, are the 2.5 covers the same as the 3.0 litre ones?  as there a few omegas being broken on ebay but they all seem to be 2.5 v6

Guys, i am thinking of attempting a auto gearbox oil change ,where is the best place to get 7 litres of dexronIII, It's coming up £34.95 for 6 litres on ebay by the time you have added gaskets and another litre of oil is it really worth doing yourself when i have been qouted £95 from a auto transmission specialist to do it.

Omega General Help / write off

Guys do any of you know roughly how much this is going to cost to do if i buy the parts required to repair and get a garage to provide the labour,looks like my insurance company are going to write it off for a wing and bumper  and some  trim  bits ,the estimate for repair by the insurance companys approved repairer is £2500, the car is in too good a condition in my opinion to write off,it's a 2000 omega elite 3.0 with 85000 miles. any thoughts ? also some sod nicked the chrome trim and badge from the front of the grill  last night any idea where i can get one other than vauxhalls.

i HAVE A OMEGA 3.0 ELITE 2000 MODEL PRE FACELIFT (MUST BE ONE OF THE LASTISH) IN POLAR BLUE,84000 MILES AND NO KNOWN FAULTS,CAMBELT DONE (VAUXHALL 18 MONTHS AGO)NEW DISCS AND PADS ON THE FRONT NEW PADS ON THE BACK,FULL HISTORY UP UNTILL 58000 MILES,THEN OIL CHANGES AT NATIONAL ETC, EVERY THING WORKS AS IT SHOULD (EVEN HEATED SEATS LOL) RE-CON GASSED,NEW TYRES ON THE BACK FRONTS OK 4MM,I AM CONSIDERING A 2003 3.2 ELITE IN BLACK 58000 MILES(ONE OF THE LAST OMEGAS MADE JULY 2003) , ARE THE NEWER OMEGAS THAT MUCH BETTER (I HAVE SEEN POSTS STATING THEY HAVE BETTER RUST PREVENTION) OR SHOULD I JUST STICK TO WHAT IVE GOT CONSIDERING IT'S GOING FINE. ANY REPLIES APPRECIATED. :-/

Im looking for some advice on wether or not to keep  my mini prefacelift 2000 omega or just part ex for something newer.

Good points

1.body work in good condition

2.no issues with engine or any related components ( @ 114000 )

3.interior mint

4. mot untill feb next year

Bad points.

1.cambelt overdue ( i know  )

2. aircon not working.( think it only needs a re-gas )

3. front discs warped

4. both front shocks and droplinks need replacing

5. wishbones need doing ( i have got poly bushes )

6.brakes also need bleeding

7. drivers heated seat not working ( minor and i can live with it )

 my problem is can i justify spending at least £600 to £700 pounds on a car that's only worth £800 if im lucky  :-/ , i do have a vauxhall trade card which will make the discs and shocks fairly cheap but im still not sure  :-/ any thoughts

ive got a mate selling a 3.2 elite with 110000 miles on the clock with full history on a 2002 plate in silver he wants £3995 for it,is this too high mileage and is the price about there ?  :-/

Anyone know a alternative supplier other than vauxhall for omega door weather strips (and the clips which cause the rust in that area).hoping to paint /waxoil the new clips to stop anymore rust starting,anyone know also how much vauxhall charge for them? .
