I would like a front loading single CD player instead of my 4-CD multi-changer (with magazine stuck in).

If I bought a CDR 2005, could I do a simple straight swap?

Cheers

Yesterday evening, one of my Xenon headlamps didn't light and a warning came on the dash.  :( My immedaite thought was that the bulb had gone, but after switching off and on a couple of times it lit. When I stopped and switched off the engine, I tried turning on again and could see that the bulb was flickering but not actually lighting (like a flourescent tube trying to light).

Later, when I tried again (after starting the engine), it lit first time.

:question Is this a problem with the bulb or is there something that kick-starts the bulb that might be faulty, like a starter motor or something?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CD Cassette stuck in CCR 2006
« on: 22 July 2009, 16:05:31 »
The CD changer on my CCR 2006 has the 4-disc cassette stuck in. It wont play any of the 4 CD's and it wont eject. It shows 'error cdc' on the display.

Anyone know how I can remove the cassette?

cheers

Omega General Help / Rear brake disc keeps warping
« on: 26 February 2011, 11:56:35 »
I changed my rear discs at Newent and have done only 20k miles and the same one has warped again.

When I took the old one off one side had no wear, so I'm suspecting a seized caliper or corroded pins stopping one side operating?

Are they easy to refurb or is it best to swap? Anyone got one NS Rear? Are they easy to swap?

Cheers
Neil

Omega General Help / Clunking Rear Suspension
« on: 24 February 2011, 10:53:48 »
In the last month or so the rear suspension has developed some serious clunking. Best way to describe it is as if there's a big Heavy solid box in the boot which jumps as I go over rough surfaces i.e. sunk manhole covers or pot holes. On a rough road it clunks fast and continuously as if the springs are having an effect on whatever is clunking.

It happens when either rear wheel hits a bump in the road.

I did the Donut Bushes last year so I don't suspect them (unless it's possible for them to come loose somehow??? but I can't imagine how that would happen..).

It seems as though the recent cold spell has had an effect all round...my front drop links have both also gone in the last month and i have replacements ready to fit, but i'm less familiar with the rear suspension so could do with some idea's as to what it could be. It's done over 200k miles so could it be rear stabiliser link bushes, like this one?

Omega General Help / Bonnet stuck shut
« on: 19 January 2011, 16:47:36 »
My bonnet wont pop open. I pull the lever in the car all the way back and can hear it clicking under the hood but it doesn't pop up. It's only a recent issue.

Is there any other way to open it? I'm assuming it'll probably just need a clean, lube and adjust once open.

Omega General Help / Miss-fire under load
« on: 01 December 2010, 09:04:30 »
Last night I went out in the car for the first time this week, so the car's been sat for a few days in the cold. Because it was icy I used the ice/snow button on the auto box to get up the hill, but noticed it was miss-firing.

This has happened on a couple of occasions before when starting from cold but it's been successfully rectified by switching the engine off and restarting each time. This time however, the problem seems to be a bit more persistent.

On the way to work this morning it was miss-firing so I pulled over, switched off and restarted, which did the trick for a while until I came to some lights and had to stop.

While idling in 'drive', it started miss-firing again and now seems to do it whenever there's some moderate load on the engine.

Tick-over and revving while in Neutral is fine (unless I really boot it hard...then it miss-fires again).

So basically it's miss-firing under load. What should I check first? I know plugs are an obvious but is there anything else I should look at while I'm there?

2002 3.2 MV6 Auto.

Omega General Help / HELP - Fuel filler cover won't unlock!!!
« on: 15 September 2010, 19:59:24 »
Stopped for fuel in Nottingham today before my drive home to Sutton Coldfield and couldn't open the fuel filler cover...it hasn't unlocked with the central locking.  >:(

Luckily I had just enough fuel to get home.

Is there a way to manually unlock it? Is there a specific fuse that could have blown or is it likely to be something to do with the lock itself?

Omega General Help / Steering very heavy this morning
« on: 11 August 2010, 11:18:50 »
I have a 2002 3.2 MV6 Auto and on my commute to work this morning, on the motorway exit slip-road, I noticed that the steering went quite heavy. It was fine before and on the motorway. When I got to work I switched off and started the engine again but it still feels very heavy.

It doesn't feel extremely heavy like when the engine is off, so there is some power steering assistance but not very much at all.

Is there anything that could have caused this apart from the obvious Power Steering Pump failure or low fluid level?

I think I remember reading that fuse no.17 has something to do with power steering. Is that right on my model?

Is there anything else I haven’t mentioned that I need to check later?

I've done my donut bushes recently and all is done up tightly but I still have a slight knocking from the rear suspension.

What other rear suspension bushes/components should be looked at next?  :y

Hi Guys

I've read previously that there's a 4-wheel alignment place in the West Midlands that uses settings from WIM (I think it may have been in Coalville but not 100%?)

Can anyone help as I can't seem to find anything using search?

Cheers

Omega General Help / Steering Idler issue
« on: 08 March 2010, 19:28:12 »
I've bought my 3rd Steering Idler after experiencing play with two previous. The first was budget, the last two were as recommended by Mark...so should be quality... but there's still play. I can even feel it when I mount the idler by hand...I push it fully on but it doesn't seem to go flush/tight on the spline. When turning the steering wheel I can feel it 'click' because of the play.

I've got pretty mush zero response from the steering when turning the steering wheel about 2cm either side of centre. As I do loads of motorway miles and it's becoming really tiring.  :(

My question is: Could the spline/shaft the idler is mounted on be worn and need replacing? If so, what is it called and are they readily available?

Omega General Help / Donut bushes - the mysterious metal cup
« on: 20 January 2010, 09:00:42 »
Ok, I just want to try clear this up in my head once and for all. I keep reading about a metal cup that needs to be removed with the donut bushes.

The replacements I have bought do not come with any metal cup, but it seems from pictures I've seen that the bush should sit inside one.  :question

1. Is the metal cup correctly identified in the 3 photos below?
2. Is it simply removed and discarded as in the bottom right photo? Does the bush on the right sit inside this cup?
3. Does the new bush go in without a metal cup?

Many thanks

Omega General Help / Getting spare key cut
« on: 10 December 2009, 13:04:47 »
I've just received a new blank key blade for a spare and need to get it cut.

:question Will any key cutting place be able to do it or does it require an Auto-lock-specialist?  :question

Cheers
Neil
