Alarm problem after new battery installed
« on: 11 May 2010, 11:25:28 »

I inadvertently left the boot lid open for 5 days a few weeks ago - obviously just enought to run the battery down!
The battery was old so I bought a new one, on fitting it the alarm went off, so I stopped it with my key fob and continued to fit the battery ignoring the ringing in my ears :-)
However since then, almost everytime I lock the car, 15 mins later the alarm goes off - which it's never done beofre (in fact, I did wonder if the alarm was fitted, as it never went off!).
Is there some kind of correct proceedure for fitting a new battery and re-setting the alarm? I've read that something called a power sounder has the nasty habit of causing problems similar to mine??

Any ideas anyone?

Could be the powersound (well, it's internal batteries) - it certainly causes all sorts of varying grief when unwell.

Only real proof (short of alarm diagnostics) is to disconnect the thing.  Off with the wiper arms, remove the skuttle, reach in and do the honours.  The cube sounder, not the alarm horn.
