Hi Guys
Having got the Omega to 97k miles and with several warnings on the MID (some of them lies!) I have decided not to put it in for MOT. An XF beckons.
An enthusiast could get it running perfectly I'm sure, as it was doing 650 miles a week until last Friday. 2 front tyres and some attention to an epileptic o/s Xenon unit would probably get it an MOT but I would get rid of it "for spares".
For information:
Year 2000 on a "V"
3.0 V6 petrol
Automatic
Elite
Ural Mountain (moody green to you)
External rust over rear arches untreated.
Rear bumper split, but spare (rubbed down but not painted) available
Parking sensors
Currently taxed until March but I expect to cash that in imminently.
This is what it looked like 5 minutes ago with 1 week's road crud on it.
Offers?
Would need picking-up from East London/SW Essex
Oh! And Happy Christmas to all who still believe in it :y

That's easy. £200
Which reminds me.
I went into to a local Jaguar dealer to buy a s/h XF and they ushered me into a back room because I wasn't buying a new Range Rover. They had a list of cars they owned, NONE of which was at their site so they couldn't demo anything. The prices were all non-negotiable and they wasted a piece of paper and an HPI check to offer me £75 for my Omega.
I think they wanted me to buy off the internet.
-
I'm sure this will go sharpish! Except for Christmas maybe?
Certainly wrong timing for me :'(
-
What's the date of the mot expiry? :)
-
Ignore me just see it's just expired 8)
-
An absolute bargain. I saw this car (although it was probably nearly two years ago) and remember it as being a nice example in a very nice and unusual colour. Personally Chris,I would list it on ebay with a start price of £200. I think it would go for quite bit more. ;)
-
+1 as above. Or a 99p start and take a chance.
-
Like the colour of that. Seems to be sitting very nice. Would reckon you could get more than your asking price. Good luck with whichever way you choose to sell.
-
I am interested at that price if still available can you send contact details please, ta

......Not the one at South Woodford?
Oh, so they can't have you cluttering up the place if you aren't after new......dear me...... ;D

The very one. And another one at Brentwood was on another planet regarding s/h prices - thought I would be bowled over by hearing what the new price would have been! ;D
I have found a place locally that lives and breathes Jags and Land Rovers and only does s/h sales as an aside to service/repairs - perfect, no BS. They pulled 3 XFs out immediately for me to play around with. :y
To update the thread, I've whipped the front light cluster off to see if it will respond to treatment. If it does, I may go for an MOT and delay the fateful event.

Is this car still available? :y

It's having a few days' respite - see above posting.
Headlight adjuster just going back in after being introduced to araldite.
-
Headlight adjuster repair completed. But haven't bothered with MOT.
Back on the market if someone can take it off me sharpish.
Tax to March can be bought separately, as can some small odds and ends kicking around the garage.

Pm sent

Chris do you have a number I can get you on? :y

They scrap for more than that on sheer weight alone.
-
Scraped one a few weeks back, they picked it up, which in theory costs me 20 notes, got offered a miserly £120 then minus £10 for not having a battery fitted. :(
Reckon they would have offered a lot less had they had taken the time to realise it was missing Cats, Exhaust, Diff, ECU's and a shed load of other bits that where missing. ::)
-
I scrapped an Orion a few years ago and the guy offered me an amount that I agreed (somewhere around £75).
When he arrived and loaded it onto his flatbed he found he didn't have that much on him and said "take it or leave it". It flowed off the tongue as if he'd done it before ;D
I don't begrudge someone on here getting a good deal.

I'd have told him to unload it again or cough up the agreed £75 >:(

Back to the OP
Omega now in new safe hands chaps and chappesses.
I will probably bow out of the forum as a result. It's been an enjoyable experience mixing with you all.
Thanks and Happy Motoring

Be Lucky, Chris.
Chris. ;)

Now sat in the garage near my house, awaiting tyres in the morning
Then we'll see what MOT brings :y
