Title: Vag diesel cambelt interval
Post by: Varche on 01 October 2017, 17:43:17
Our search continues......

Found something that fits our bill. 2014 ,Service history and 127k km.

Before decamping , travelling and hotel bills asked

Has the dsg autobox fluid been changed , yes, and when was cambelt last done. Hasn't. Not necessary till  210,000 km! I have actually found an internet reference to 210k which also said hot, dusty environment 120,000 km about 75k miles.

I have concluded that folk are selling to avoid having to stump up £500 plus for belt, tensioner and pump. Good for us though as i would get it done anyway.

Did you say DSG?

I have another feeling why people are selling, then...  Several people I know have bought DSG VAGs which have never been right. I reckon they get dumped when the gearboxes start to play up. :-\

Yes i have heard that too especially if gearbox oil  isnt changed every 40k. The oil apparently costs over £100 plus labour. I wouldnt buy without full service history.

I am thinking this vehicle must have been a rep car to have done 75k miles in three years. Mostly motorway? Hopefully not thrashed..... :-\

:y  it would be a 2.0 litre . 1.6 loaded with people and luggage is no good on the hills we have here.

If we ever actually buy something, I will get round to a dealer and have them give me the definitive on interval for that vehicle.

The 200k swap is way too long, they dont last that long. Was only a few eeks ago I did an engine swap to a 2008 Passat cause timing belt broke.
Halve the km for the change if it says 200k or more and you will be fine.
The new VAGs are garbage anyway so just drive your Omega heh.
