News has been released that the concentrations of CO2 in the Earth's atmosphere surged in 2016 to the highest level recorded for over 800,000 years according to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-41778089
So at the risk of being called a "socialist tree huger", which actually couldn't be further to the truth, and so, so gullible, isn't it just wise and prudent for mankind to do everything we can NOW to reduce all CO2 output, even though there HAS been improvements in the last few years?
So we as keen motorists do not want to be restricted in any way, but what the likes of the Mayor of London is doing must go a little way to help and should be appaulded ;)
-
Wow, that some news, I never realised the WMO has been recording CO2 emissions in our Atmosphere for the last 800,000 years.
If theve been busy doing that it might explain how they managed to miss the Multiple Meteor Strikes only 10,000 years later. -

I believe they get the historical data from core samples taken from deep ice in the polar regions ;)
As for the news.. *shrugs* I can't muster much enthusiasm for caring, I'm afraid!

Think of the poor little children. :'(

Nope, because it's all a left-wing eco-Nazi conspiracy and turning to renewables will bring about the economic downfall of us all. Man-made climate change is a myth and only the terminally gullible would believe in any of it*.

* disclaimer: I don't actually believe any of that stuff, I'm just filling in until Rods2 gets here :y

More useless information , that loads of cash has been squandered on will any of us do anything different I know I won't.😀

No matter what you may think personally, none of us will have any choice. The clock is ticking on diesel cars, and internal combustion engines in general, just like it did once with leaded, full strength, petrol. The government will tax and regulate to achieve whatever goals are considered necessary with the environment. After all, who is going to build a coal fired power station in the UK? Even China is trying to get it's act together as smog is overwhelming their major cities. ;)

One volcanic eruption releases more CO2 than all the Omegas ever produced... ::)

For all skeptics on here fully read this please:

and

and for DG and other volcano submissions to the discussion:

But, of course, there will be some people everywhere who will still not believe the facts. ::) ::)

So that make's it OK for mankind to carry on polluting our environment? ??? ::)
-
Its well known the BBC have an agenda in this regard, so not surprisingly they are pushing this good news (as far as they are concerned) so hard in the last 24hrs.
But then, Greenland was once green. No doubt all the medieval eskimos driving all their Range Rovers caused that.
-
It could be suggested that all that feel strongly about it sell their cars buy a bicycle and lead by example ..... ::)
-
Fair point ;)

Mankind as a species has been polluting the environment since day one and will continue to do so until the earth is no longer habitable. If as a species we crack the idea of travelling to another planet and colonising it we'll start the whole process over again[because we never seem to learn].This is not to say we shouldn't be trying to do something to at least slow the process-I doubt it can be stopped let alone reversed-but what the real answer is I don't know, renewable energy sources[wind farms and the like]they say can't or won't provide for all the needs, nuclear power they say is pollution free, but what of all the radioactive stuff left over when a nuclear station is decommissioned? They used to drop it in the ocean, but what happens when the sea and all the creatures living in the real depths break down the containers and concrete[or whatever they were filled with]and this stuff is released into the water?Meanwhile I'll keep driving my "gas guzzlers"until I'm either physically unable to do so or forced to by legislation.

We don’t have to wait for space travel to start polluting the rest of the universe. We can fire our nuclear waste off into deep space. But, of course, there will be some who object to us polluting the galaxy.

I blame all those Soda-streams from the 70's and 80's

.......and that can join the human races space junk "out there" that is a serious threat to us travelling around the globe in space, let alone to our "life controlling - can't do without" satilites. :P

No. I didn’t say into orbit, I said deep space.

I think the main objection is that if anything goes amiss with the launch, a la challenger/Columbia, you've made an incredibly efficient dirty bomb. And then detonated it all over yourself. ::) particularly problematic given the nuclear industry's penchant for taking all the money and letting someone else clean up the mess. So doubtless the launch would be contracted to the lowest bidder.

But to get into deep space you have to go through the junk that is apparently spreading fast.

Yup...India........so...... ;D ;D ;D

why do I need to bother, about more crap, published by boffins with an agenda.
global waming and an ice age killed the dinosaurs, and they didn't drive or have fridges.
-
Yes and mankind are probably the next dinosaurs the trouble is we're likely to take everything else down with us.

No, a piece of rock some 9 miles wide hit the Earth at 40,000 mph in what is now known as the Gulf of Mexico, causing a hole some 125 miles wide and chucking up into the atmosphere billions of tons of rock some 66 million years ago. It is calculated the impact had the equivalent power of 10 million Hiroshima atomic bombs. That and it's after affects killed most of the dinosaurs in just over a day. ;)
-
Because it effectively blocked out the sun for a year and caused a mini ice age ::)

We don’t have to wait for space travel to start polluting the rest of the universe. We can fire our nuclear waste off into deep space. But, of course, there will be some little green men who object to us polluting the galaxy.
FTFY ;)
The aliens have mostly left us alone so far, but if we start lobbing toxic radioactive bombs out there at them..... :-\ ::)

They have left us alone because they know we are incredibly dangerous, with believers in UFO's pointing out that significant ET interest in us has only happened after we detonated the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs in 1945. ;)

Yeah. Then they’d be too fat to invade us. ;D

I think it's probably the other way round and they've left us alone because we're not yet a threat to them. :)
They're keeping an eye on us all the same. ;)

The people of Earth have always seen 'aliens' in the sky. These aliens take the popular form of the time they are seen.
A thousand years ago aliens took the form of fire-breathing winged dragons or serpents. In the 1950's the took the form of silver metallic flying saucers.

The Bible actually makes a lot of sense if you read it from the perspective of it being a book about spacemen. ;)

I really don't care my V8 Merc sailed through its test today and I will continue to listen to that wonderful soundtrack for as long as I can.😀

Many of the articles in that link actually support the fact that major changes are happening around the globe with environment, pollution, temperatures, and weather generally, with affects on humans generally agreed by the medical profession.
In any case, just look around you at our environment, listen to the news reports and weather forecasts, think about what is definitely occurring. Ignore at our peril. There is a snowball effect going on that, yes, we may be too late to stop. :(
