Not tempting fate or anything but it seems good so far!  :y

Thought I'd get something different to run around in while the BMW's ECU is away.  ;)

Don't forget, with a magnet like that, you'll likely need "something for the weekend" too. ;)

The new owners have taken off the big black go faster stripe on the bonnet!  :(

And it had a black 'pinstripe' down the sides as well.  :-*

I rather enjoyed all the attention from lusty 18 year old girls back in the day, but I'm not sure I could keep up these days!  :(  ;D

Hence the new one is a bit more sedate than my Marina 1800TC Coupe!  ;)

You need to remember that 'up north' where you come from cars were a luxury item only bought 'by them shandy drinking bed-wetting London types'. So scouse girls were easily impressed when you arrived in a stolen Austin 1100 held together by Isopon.

I hear rumours that some homes in the north now have running water, electricity, and in exceptional cases, an indoor crapper.

I'll sell the Mondeo, the Beemer is a keeper for a while and I'll see how I go with the new Ford type thing.  ;)

The £500 odd VED and the 23 mpg might see that off before long as well!  ;D

G-Wagens are a blatant German rip off of the Defender, but I bet there is one feature of the Defender that Mercedes couldn't bring themselves to copy.....  ::)

Anyway I gave it a bit of a 'shakedown' today with a 250 mile round trip from West Dorset to the Rhondda Valleys and back.   :y

According to the computer, the V6 gave me an average of 28.9 mpg over a mixture of country twisties, motorway and urban driving.  :)

Oh no, he's bought a Renault Avantine

A previous neighbour of mine worked for Renault UK head office, in marketing. He kept bringing home strange cars - like the Avantine, Vel Satis, 24v clit. Needless to say none of them ever sold any real quantity in the UK & he could never explain why they bothered to import RHD versions. He is now very high up in Renault Europe & things seem to have the other way with the current Laguna and Espace not even making it to these shores. I guess they are focussing on high volume products that, for some reason, British people continue to buy.  ???

I actually thought it was a 2.7 TDV6 Disco or similar.

AT LAST!  ;D

Yes its a 2006 Land Rover Discovery 3  2.7 TDV6 S in dark navy blue.  :y

I await the ritual slagging and another 5 pages telling me what will go wrong with it!  ;D

Okay.....so you've bought a car the weight of an ocean going liner and decided an undernourished 2.7 derv lump barely capable of pulling the skin off a rice pudding would be a good idea.

Happy Christmas.

It goes quite well to be honest, but it wouldn't suit TB's sideways driving style!   :o ;D

TB is on the portly side.......    (Note....I didn't say fat bastard)

I'm surprised he is so enthusiastic behind the wheel.

Couldn't possibly be as bad as the little 1.4 (or 1.2 maybe) petrol Skoda Rapid I had as a loan car yesterday.. now that really couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding.

I found they went reasonably well, up to illegal road speeds, but drinks like a drunk in doing so.

Didn't have the loaner long enough to see what it would manage when no being thrashed everywhere.

With the high centre of gravity I don't think whanging it into a roundabout or tight corner at warp speeds, as you do TB would end well.  :-\  ;)

It does however have 'presence' on the road due to it size and it does go well in a straight line.  :y  I ran out of duel carriageway the other day though when doing an overtake that wouldn't have bothered the Mundano or Beemer.  :o  ::)  ;D

Sir Tig...... if you will insist on buying 'a van with windows' then the Range Rooney fitted with the 5.0 S/C V8 would probably be a better bet for moving something so heavy. Fuel consumption would probably be similar judging from the figures you are currently getting with derv.

It will still be slow, but not glacially slow.

More pauper than patrician, Sir Tig.

The S/c RR is about 600 KG more than my car (about one whole Westfield)

Even so 10 -12 MPG suggests you don't suffer with 'Tunnie foot'
